Brewed Coffee

Hi, I'm Meg, and I work on the Brewed Coffee team. I feel proud to have been a part of the Pike Place Roast launch, and I enjoy reading your comments about it. Exciting as this launch has been, I'm even more excited to think about what's next for brewed coffee at Starbucks.

In addition to some of the things we're thinking about for the future (which I'll have to keep a secret for a little while longer), I've seen a lot of great ideas posted here, like the desire for a coffee-only line and standardizing what we mean by "room for cream".

I'm curious to know more about your preferences. Would you rather skip the condiment bar and have the barista add the perfect amount of milk and sugar for you? Do you come in for a Coffee Press and an authentic coffee "experience" or would you like to have self-serve coffee? Perhaps both, depending on the time and day? Ultimately, I want to know how you would like your perfect cup of coffee to be served. I look forward to your comments!

How about once again focusing on coffee instead of fruit smoothies?

Pretty simple, eh?

Hey Meg.  Have you checked out Seattle Coffee Works in Seattle on Pike between 1st and 2nd?  I love that they offer so many ways to make your coffee for you.  Not only do they have espresso and drip coffee machines and presses, but they also are happy to make you a cup of coffee using...

• Vacuum or Siphon pot

• Chemex-patented filter

• Melitta or Cone Filter

• Aeropress

Maybe for the same reasons Starbucks will only put Clovers at select stores, they could also offer some of these alternate ways to enjoy coffee at specific stores.   I know I love the options when I go to Seattle Coffee Works.

...not sure why I got signed out.  I posted the item above about alternate ways to serve coffee.

I realize Pike Place Roast is an inexpensive, cheaper blend with less roasting cost and that is the reason it is the only drip coffee offered all day. Starbucks makes more on a cup of PPR then the other bold offerings. I, for one, would be willing to pay a bit more for a good bold drip available most of the day.

i once suggested lines in cups but i've changed my mind. install a device on the tap that brewed coffee comes out of that measures the amount that passes through it. it will only take me a couple of tries to know precisely how much coffee i want to allow me room for cream. i will then ask for this amount every time. the device could be indexable for many volumes leaving no room for human error. and many possible customer choices. you will save money on wasted coffee  (probably $millions) not to mention the many other benefits such as no coffee in garbage cans etc. My price for this idea is a gift card that allows me to have the equivalent to the amount of coffee your organization would save in one year after implementation in all locations as measured by an independent research firm that we can select together. this should really be posted as an idea but  will watch for a couple days and see if there is any notice, if not i will put it up there.

BRING BACK BOLD!

BOLD is great - but ....

I went to get 2 coffees Friday morning about 9am - one bold and one Pike's....

I was told by the barista and the manager - that I would have to wait for the Pikes - as they no longer offer Pikes after the early morning rush and ONLY have bold - but they would brew Pikes if I did not want both in bold.

Summary - the stores (at different times and locations and staff) all seem to make up what ever rules, standards, etc that suit the moment...

I think the condiment bars are great! That way everyone can customize there coffee just the way they like it.

Meg,  Thanks for changing the max time that coffee will be held down to 30 minutes.
