Food news

Hi, I’m Denny and I lead the food team here at Starbucks. There have been many, many ideas surrounding healthy food options on the site—Healthy, High Protein Breakfast, Smaller Portion Sizes, More Whole Grains to name just a few. I want to let you know that not only do we hear you, we agree and we’re working on it.

So what are we doing? We’re focusing in on creating delicious—truly delicious—high quality, affordable foods that deliver positive nutritional value and help people get a great start to their day. Eating healthy can be far more than the absence of guilt, it can and should provide pleasure. We're working to bridge that gap.

Our mission at Starbucks is to nurture and inspire and I can think of no better way to do that than to provide the nutrition one needs in the morning to be at their best the whole day. By providing that great start, we can make the difference in the lives of millions every week. It's a lofty goal, (the older I get, the loftier I like my goals to be) and we’re going to make it happen. So stay tuned, because healthy and delicious is on its way.

Now that you use bananas for your Vivano drink, can you sell them to the customers too.  They are not for sale in our Carlsbad, CA Encinas Dr. store.  This is a great item to have for the kids or on the run healthy snack.

Please include in this health focus, some flavor syrups with no sugar or sweetener of ANY kind.  Dunkin Donuts coffee syrups have no sugar or sweetener so that all customers can use the same syrups regardless of sweetener choice and then choose to sweeten or not sweeten with whatever they like (sugar, splenda, sweetnlow, equal, stevia, etc).  I LOVE this because I don't want sugar substitutes (taste yucky) AND I think your sugared syrups are WAY TOO SWEET.  More flavored coffee choices would be even better, but if space and coffee makers limit this, then sweetener-free syrups at least allow me the next best thing.

I have been a die hard Starbucks addict for several years now with my daily dose a necessity and the perk of my day - having recently (two weeks ago) found out I'm allergic to gluten - I am in withdrawal from my favorite Starbucks loaf breads - go figure. My breakdown moment was walking into Starbucks and then realizing I didn't know what I could have. I'd love - and so would many - gluten free options and more nutritional info. I couldn't figure out if my favorite drinks are gluten free with only the calorie count guide at the store. Even logging in on my phone to your website I couldn't find a list of ingredients. I work at a gym and understand wanting to know calories and fat etc. but can you put ingredients on the pamphlets  as well for your loyal fans who are more upset about being gluten free and missing their Starbucks addiction rather than giving up regular bread??? =) Thanks! I love you guys and all your yummy goodies (although I can't eat them now)

There is an enormous amount of salt used in most of the Starbucks foods, including the breakfast foods. Hypertension is a huge problem for many Americans. It's a silent killer. I wish the nutritionist would pay more attention to the amounts of salt grams currently found in Starbucks food. Taste can be retained by using more spices and less salt.

This is a health issue and I hope it gets more attention. Thank You.

I know you have heard this many times before but it is an important aspect to us regular Starbucks drinkers, please let us have the option of organic skim mile in our coffee I am willing to pay more for this as I know this milk costs more, and please as take out the artificial sugar form the the lite drinks and put in stevia which is proved to be healthier choice.

Thank you,

M. Nelsen

Anything in the works for pre-packaged kosher breakfast and snack items?  A local Starbucks used to sell freshly-baked kosher yummies at one point but stopped after a couple years and only sells (as the others do), the frozen goodies.  Please consider selling pre-packaged kosher foods - not just for those that keep kosher but for vegetarians as well.  You'll see a lot less people bringing in their own food to eat while having their exceptional Venti Vanilla Lattes ;-)

Cheers!
