Up to Two hours of Complimentary Wi-Fi

Hi all, it’s Kevin again. At the end of March, I made a post here informing you of the upcoming Wi-Fi changes at Starbucks. Well, now I am back to let you know that they are here! Anyone who has a registered Starbucks Card that has been used within 30 days to make a purchase or had funds loaded on it can sign up now.

Join Starbucks Card Rewards at www.starbucks.com/cardrewards and sign up for Wi-Fi.

Complimentary Wi-Fi is one session of up to two hours every day. For access, you must use your registered Starbucks Card to load money or make a purchase within the past 30 days; open a free account with AT&T; and agree to receive limited AT&T marketing.

Enjoy.

Cheers,
Kevin

I'm happy that you implemented this. However, the user interface to access WiFi is NOT friendly. Tying WiFi access to the card has added an unnecessary layer of complexity. I have to fight through error messages for access at my local store, and it wan't available at all at BNA airport - as if  T-Mobile had never heard of Starbucks!  Why not just make it free and simply available, as at Panera's and most other coffee houses?  Your marketing folks are making this too complicated.

Loved the idea but I guess there are still glitches to work out.  The first time I tried this in the Watertown, CT store, I had no trouble logging in to the WiFi network; however, there was just one small problem...my login timer indicated that I had already been connected for one-hour.  Hmm....I know the baristas at the store are slow, but I doubt it took them an hour to get my drink right!  I hope I actually get two hours next time.

It was a total disaster getting logged in for the first time. NONE of the employees had a clue how to help me.  They were frustrated and so was I.  An employee even recommended that I contact you guys and let you know that free WIFI is a must and that they are just as confused as the consumers.  It's really a simple concept.  Free WIFI - my friends and I were appalled that STARBUCK'S (the trendiest coffee place ever) doesn't have FREE WIFI!!! What in the world?  I had to call Starbuck's customer service to have them walk me through the initial steps to get my 2 hours of WIFI so my meeting started 15 minutes late after I had arrived 30 minutes early.  I just KNEW Starbuck's would have free WIFI!  Guess I was wrong.

I was so happy when you announced the 2 hrs free wifi.  Didn't sound too complicated to register a card & setup an account.  After multiple uses of the service (and many failed attempts that have caused me to leave the store), I've given up.

I now go to Peet's if I want to be online.  Two seconds for them to print me a code and I'm on.  You need to simplify the process.  I have been a hardcore Starbucks fan since the late 80's.  I defended you as the higher quality store against Peet's to many of my friends.  But the wifi access is enough to turn me as a loyal customer.  I'll still go to Starbucks...but not if I need wifi.  Please simplify the logon process so I can go back to my favorite coffee shop.

I feel WIFI should be more then 2 hours per day.  I also feel that maybe if customers dont have a starbucks card. Maybe Starbucks should have an ATT acount.  For credit card/debit card there charged should be for the first 2 hours is free. For another 2 hours it should be $3- I feel for non-starbucks card uses this makes customers go to other placees. And that means we lose the sales.

Why does it have to be one continuous two hour "allowance" of time. How about us road warriors who need maybe an hour in the AM and then another hour in the PM to wrap the business day? What is so sacred about the continuous session or, for that matter, the two hour session. We Gold card members don't understand.
