Breakfast at Starbucks

Hi, it’s Katie again with ANOTHER exciting announcement!

Here’s what I’m able to tell you today:
  • We are not reversing our decision to replace the breakfast sandwiches, but we are continuing to evolve them. We have found small ingredient changes that address the aroma issues of our current breakfast sandwiches, and have implemented these already!
  • The Spinach Feta Wrap is here to stay!
  • Coming This Fall: Our food transformation begins with the launch of new breakfast items which include a range of nutritious, unique and great-tasting foods that complement our beverages. Customers are looking for ways to add whole grains and more lean protein into their diets and the products launching in the fall will meet this need.

On July 15, we launched the Berry Stella, which is packed with Omega 3s, real fruit, and 100% whole grains. This is along the lines of what you can expect to see from us as we move forward with new food offerings.

Stay tuned for more updates as fall is right around the corner!

Cheers,
Sbx_kt

Katie,

Our family really enjoys the Ham-Egg-and Cheddar breakfast sandwiches.  I'm hopeful there will be a tasty replacement for that one  before it goes away.

Excellent Direction!  Love the Berry Stella and love the Spinach Wrap.

Consider a Spanish style cold omelette (like in Barcelona's tapas bars) with potatoes or roasted red bell pepper strips or onions.  It has  a long refrigerated shelf life. It can be eaten hot or cold, can be sliced into lovely wedges and is high protein, low fat and sneaks in a veggie or two!And if someone just have to have carbs, they can order a bagel or croissant to go with.

Thanks for the update!  I hope that the decision to change the breakfast sandwiches is not rooted in the (imaginary) "smell" issue.  I used to not have a particularly good sense of smell; following a major sinus surgery a decade ago, my sense of smell became excellent.  I purchase Starbucks in-store on daily basis, and breakfast sandwiches on the weekend, and rotate among five or six different stores.  I have never smelled breakfast sandwiches cooking.  I have never been aware of any particular odor in any of the stores.  I can't get out of my mind the idea that Mr. Schultz read an isolated customer's comment about the "smell of the stores" and was really horrified by that idea.  It goes against the founding premise of Starbucks as a european-style coffee house.   The only problem is, that individual was in error:  there is no such smell.  The reality is, the sandwiches are a great item and a best seller.  In suburban areas, Starbucks is often the only place one can get any breakfast on the weekend after 11 AM!  To get rid of some or all of them will only further alienate customers.  I can say that Starbucks will definitely lose some of my business if this change is implemented.  It would be a shame if all this were done based not on actual data, but on a few offhand, inaccurate comments.  Thank you!

Thank you for not removing something good and deciding rather to improve it!  Now that's using your smarts.  I love the taste of the lowfat turkey bacon egg sandwich.  Can you put less bacon on it and lower the fat, carbs, and calories.  It is healthy except for high carb, fat, and calories.  It also needs to have at least 10 seconds more cooking time for taste.  Everyone is ordering them well done.

Thank you for the update, I have enjoyed the lowfat turkey bacon egg sandwich in Baltimore but I can not get this in upstate NY. When do you think this will be available in my area?

I'm a little confused - in this post you say that you have heard your customers loud and clear, but that you are not reversing your decision to replace the sandwiches, but you are evolving them...could you expand on that.  In another post, it mentions the sandwiches will be around for 6 months.  ???

So, are they staying, going, being completely revamped??

By the way, I have NEVER smelled anything but coffee when I go into my local Starbucks.

I just don't like the orange cheese on the sausage & egg breakfast sandwich.  When I asked for the sandwich without the cheese, I was told that "it comes that way" and was offered a knife to try to "scrape it off" after they'd already cooked it into the english muffin.  By this time there was no way you could remove the cheese without removing the entire english muffin.  Can you please tell me why they couldn't simply have removed the cold slice of cheese BEFORE cooking my sandwich?  Can you please educate the stores on this concept?  In the meanwhile, I actually need to shop elsewhere for my breakfast and seriously, that's a little ridiculous.

Hi there, I'm not sure why the ham, egg and cheese muffin sandwich had to be removed? To me this a major breakfast staple! And for what... the odor??? What is it with listening to a few minority whiners about food odors? Personally I've never smelled anything cooking at a Starbucks, nor would care if I did. Unfortunately I have to report that I have stopped going to Starbucks in the morning on my way to work since the discontinuation of the ham/egg/cheese sandwich. I tried the sausage items but just can't seem to "want" sausage every morning. Ham is a much healthier, and tasty alternative.

I am not sure if cookies are considered as breakfast, but I have been looking for my favorite cookie called Molasses Chew.  It taste like a huge ginger snap accept for it is chewy and also low in sugar.  Has it been discontinued; if so is it possible for you to tell me where did it go?  Thanks
