Believe in the Power of 10,000 … on V2V

On April 1, 2008 we launched Starbucks V2V, an online social network about community.  In eight months, we've grown from 1 partner to more than 10,000 partners, customers, and community members – from one country to more than 60 countries – from one virtual store to more than 15,000 virtual stores!

Believe in the power of 10,000 partners who worked to help rebuild New Orleans just a few days ago – the power of 10,000 V2V members – the power we all have to achieve our goal of more than one million community service hours per year in the communities where we do business.

Log on to V2V at www.v2v.net/starbucks, find someone you know or who inspires you, and send them a short message to thank them for embracing innovation, standing up as individuals for the causes they care about and encouraging thousands of others to get involved and join them in creating positive change in the world. If you are already on V2V, thank you! If not, we invite you to join V2V today – registration is now open to all.

V2V plays an important role in Starbucks Shared Planet. “Starbucks and you. It’s bigger than coffee.” Learn more at starbucks.com/sharedplanet.

Good job to everyone who participated in the Twitter challenge!  That was a fun way to celebrate the 10,000 in Starbucks V2V who make a difference in their communities.

I've seen a lot of posts about the speed of the V2V and MSI websites. Instead of spending a lot of money increasing network bandwidth in an effort to speed up website performance like some have suggested why not make better use of the resources Starbucks already has in place?

Our company is a Microsoft Advanced Infrastructure partner, a Citrix Gold Partner, and a network system integrator here in the Seattle area. We have worked with Public and Private organizations such as Sound Transit, Children's Hosp. & Regional Medical Center, North West Hospital & Medical Center, Premera Blue Cross, Kemper Development, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, etc. to provide solutions that accelerate network performance while at the same time reducing costs and improving the security of Web-based software applications.

You can reach me by email at: randall.brailsford@esgroup.us if you have any questions or would like to get more information.

Huge Congrats on 10,000 members at V2V!!! It's grown a ton.  I think  just about a month ago there were only like 5 or 6 thousand people.  Very exciting stuff. :)

Congratulations Nancy and all V2V partners!  Keep up the good work and continue to spread the word.  MSI and V2V are perfect vehicles to extend the Starbucks Experience beyond the four walls of a Starbucks store.

If some of you are wondering what partyelf's and aorr's comments were about, you should start following @StarbucksV2V, and @MyStarbucksIdea, and @starbucks on Twitter.   Some who do find Gold there.

Thanks for all your sweet, sweet comments.  @Melody- you are right, V2V did only have 5 or 6 thousand users not too long ago.  Thanks for being a rockstar and supporting our online communities!
