Starbucks Merchandise Sale: 20% off merchandise 12/9 – 12/15

Hello,
One of the popular ideas currently on MSI is Return to the 20% off drink during the holidays.   There have also been other popular ideas about lowering prices and value.

            Lower Your Prices
            Happy Hour
So, I thought it was timely that I share our 20% off merchandise sale is happening now through December 15, 2008 at participating U.S. stores.  However as the idea above calls out drinks, this sale does not include beverages (handcrafted or bottled), fresh food, Starbucks Cards, newspapers, or Gold Card Memberships.
Purely merchandise will be 20% off.  This includes brewing equipment (could be a good time to buy the Sirena™ espresso machine), packaged food, tea, coffee (whole bean or ground), gift packs, music, books, serve ware (including mugs), and tumblers.  This is the week to check some of your holiday shopping off your list at Starbucks.  Some of my favorite things at Starbucks this year are:
• the Winter Wonderland CD.  It has some Starbucks exclusive tracks.  My favorite is Pink Martini’s rendition of “Do You Hear What I Hear?”
• The Traveler is a sweet story book to read with your family and friends with a great message perfect for the holiday season.
• Whole bean and ground Christmas Blend is even 20% off and this year’s blend is amazing.
• Many of you may like our new earth-friendly reusable tumbler, made with a minimum of 27% recycled material.  It even comes with a free beverage.

Happy Holidays!

That is wonderful...I was just wondering if Starbucks was planning on sending out any special discounts to gold card members for the holiday shopping.

I noticed that one of the gold card perks was special offers and discounts throughout the year and if they were going to offer a 'friends and family' discount or something similar to gold card members this would be a great time to do it.

I agree that getting a family and friends discount would be great and other gold card coupons now. Let's see some benefits besides the 10% discount.

StarbucksStore.com is also currently offering 20% off site-wide on coffee, tea, serve ware including the holiday items, and small electrics such as espresso makers.  Starbucks Cards are not part of the sale.

Remarkable. SBUX has rarely ever discounted its whole bean coffee.  Must be a sign of the times. I wonder if Tooley's is also discounting their whole bean coffee.

Francisco, I think Starbucks has done this before in December, but last time I recall the same sort of sale, I think it was just one weekend, and not like a week.  ??

Again the problem is....the sale is only at PARTICIPATING stores. If one store has a sale, then all stores should have a sale! I live in rural america and there are only licensed stores in my area. None of them are "participating".  Why do people who live in big cities get a discount sale and those of us living in rural towns do not?

I agree that stores should operate the same!  That said, I could help get the word out.  I'm debuting my graphic novel title in local papers that have a readership base of over 270.000 households.  Check out my idea on "Comics and Coffee..." that I recently posted.  Comments are welcome.  I'd love to get some feedback on whether or not it's feasible.
