A very nice idea!

Great idea...glad I'm in one of these cities!

This is so cool. Thank you. I don't have TV and I'd wondered what I would do.  Now I know I'll be hiking my computer to my Starbucks in CA and (pretending) to work while sipping Americanos and watching history being made.

One of the things I like about the company is that we're doing more to connect ourselves with our demographic: mainstream America.

The first thing I said to my store manager when I read the MSNBC article about this was "You know, they should just think about making CNN a regular part of our everyday Starbucks Experience. Maybe tie it into some sort of afternoon happy hour promotion when the lobbies of many stores are usually empty."

I do want to point out though that there are some issues to work out on the technical side of it all. My store had barely any standing room and our register line was barely moving because so many people were fixated on the LCD screen. A few moments before the oath, the stream froze! We had some very disappointed customers who are going to associate Starbucks with the negative experience of missing the most historic and important part of the whole inauguration.

Back to the whole idea of incorporating CNN into our stores with LCD screens. One of the things I notice is that people only look at those screens when they want to know what song is playing. Now that Starbucks has narrowed its in-store entertainment offerings, those screens aren't generating much of a return-on-investment. Putting actual TV on those screens will not only drive sit-in lobby traffic, but it will keep more people looking at the screens when Starbucks wants to play one of its awesome commercials (which currently, I hardly notice anyone watch from start to finish)

It would sad to see the "DRIVE BY MEDIA" in Starbucks stores. If you do this you should run FOX NEWS as well. I wonder what people think of our new Obama now that most of their freedoms are being stripped from right undfer their noses?
