Poll Results: Where will you brew Starbucks VIA™ Ready Brew?

Starbucks has introduced a new coffee: Starbucks VIA™ Ready Brew.   It is proportioned for an 8 oz. serving and only needs hot or cold water to brew in an instant.  Starbucks VIA™ Ready Brew Italian Roast or Colombia is now available in select Seattle and Illinois stores.  It is also available at www.starbucksstore.com.  In a recent MSI poll I asked where you will brew this new coffee. Here are the results:

  • airplane  8%
  • camping 15%
  • hotel       13%
  • office       32%
  • other       32%

Many of you voted that you would use it at the office, but just as many voted "other".  Let us know where you brew Starbucks VIA™ Ready Brew.

I use it at home, when there is not time to brew a pot, I use it when I want coffee before I run out the door, in a travel mug, going with me.

The aroma, the body, the subtle taste notes: it kind of reminds me of a cup of coffee from McDonald's or Denny's.  Even at its cheapest -- $0.83 a packet -- it's way overpriced.  Who needs VIA when you've got a french-press tumbler?  You can brew a much better "cup" of coffee for less.   I guess it makes 3 minutes and 59 seconds longer.  I think I can handle that.

Via is good for me to make at work.  We don't have a coffee pot, but I've got access to hot water.  Now, if only they'd offer it in bigger packets...

I'd use it at Starbucks during the afternoon.  VIA might not be very good but it's still better than Pike Place Roast.

I am going to make VIA at HOME!!!  I don't like to have a coffee maker take up counter space in my kitchen so instant is the best option!

BTW, VIA tastes very very good!   I won't mind to have that instead of fresh brew when I'm making brunch at home and serving my friends this when they come over!

LOVE IT!  Thanks!  BTW, shipping at starbucks store is expensive!  I took advantage and bought a few boxes of VIA during the free shipping offer... Cannot wait until VIA will be sold in SF market later this year!

BTW, you should do Decaf VIA as well?

I found another occasion to us VIA today. I have Fibromyalgia and today I had a major flare. I was unable to grind beans & brew coffee so I put some water in the microwave and made a cup of VIA. Now I can still have a really good cup of coffee even when I am not able to brew it. Thanks SBX!

Holy conflagration, mguiste!  Please don't turn MSI into a police state!  I understand that you're down on your luck these days.  I'm sorry that you're working for a company that's clearly going down in flames and that's rendered you not just a little chafed and a lot grumpy.  I'm sorry that all of your stock options are underwater which renders your total compensation totally unacceptable.  But don't take it out on the little guy!  Don't surrender your voice and will to the machinations of a beastly corporation that's lost its way.  Use your powers for good!  And love thy neighbor.

Just received my VIA  and tried it right-away.  Sorry to say that Nescafe is better tasting!!! It smells like an instant and tastes like instant. It does taste better than Pikes Place Blend!!!

I go to Starbucks' for real fresh brewed coffee.  Who wants "instant coffee".  I don't think you will find this a hit with many customers.  Bad Choice

No ones saying its better than fresh brewed coffee, not much is better than anything fresh.  VIA gives the convenience of instant coffee but still tastes good.  It's not a bad choice but it's just that "a choice".  Many people want instant when instant is all they have time for.
