Starbucks on the Go

It’s that time of the year - road trip time!  And, from the sound of your ideas, many of you want to know how to find Starbucks while you are traveling this summer.

There are several ways to find a Starbucks near you.  For people in the U.S. or Canada, you can use your mobile device and text your zip code to 697289 (MYSBUX) and we will text you back with the three closest locations to your zip code.

Using the mobile web, you can visit http://mobile.starbucks.com for a store locator.  Just put in your zip code or your street address to find the Starbucks stores in that area.  Again, this works in the U.S. and Canada.

Lastly, if you have a GPS device, nearly all the brands on the market will be able to find a Starbucks near you.  Depending on the manufacturer, Starbucks may show up in the coffee/café category or in the food/restaurant category.  Be sure to check your user manual to enable search for certain categories or to show your favorite locations automatically on your device.

Thanks for looking for us while you are out on the road.  Here's to a happy and safe road trip!

Also, the store locator at www.starbucks.com/retail has a "Find Route" tab... it will locate all the stores in between two cities/locations. Perfect for roadtrips!

Why doesn't this also work for Europe? I hate it that it's always only in the US and Canada available first.. Europeans always have to wait.... ._.

The iPhone apps that have Starbucks locator's aren't official, and the couple I've tried are ok, but either have missing stores/don't keep up to date. They don't even list the city name, jsut a street. I'd love to see an official Starbucks iPhone app with all this information, and perhaps other fun stuff that Starbucks dreams up.

or even a starbucks iPhone app that does the locating as well as drink ordering in-store. the iPhone automagically connects to the network if u have wifi on under the settings, so u could launch the app and pick your order. awesome stuff like that.

but in google maps on the iPhone, u just search starbucks and it finds them all. pretty simple and you don't even need an app for that.

Some good, some bad.

Good: The database does appear current or at least more updated then recently. I had complained about Northern VA locations being very out-of-date (showed a location that was closed 6 years a go) but locations I checked for areas in VA and IL I use alot are now good.

Bad: The web page does not detect what type of mobile device you are. I have an iPhone and the screen is way too small and even when I expand very hard to use. Appears to be sized for a cellphone screen.

As for an iPhone application I dont think its needed. As example go to iphone.washingtonpost.com or mobile.nytimes.com. They are two very good examples of mobile web pages that dont require an app. Yes, the NY Times does have an app but the web page is faster and more reliable in my opinion. Neither mobile web page requires wi-fi.

If Starbucks was to create a 'great' mobile web site there would be no need to an app, thus staying away from a point solution.

If you are on a road trip< what are the chances of you knowing the zip code to where you are at??? Good concept, just needs to be thought through a lil bit more

I traavel all the time and I just look around and there is always a starbucks close by.  Last week I was in Spokane  Francis & Ash and I happened on a Starbucks that just made my day.  Every once in a while when I've been driving hours and hours, a great starbucks stop is just what I need to keep going.  So many times it's business as usual, but this woman (the manager I think) made be feel like I was a friend she had been waiting for.

I am unhappy that "due to legal issues" my favourite iPhone app BucksMe has been discontinued and disappeared off my iPhone. I know you are all about brand protection, but unless you offer a suitable substitute, you shouldn't make it harder for customers to find you and to give you money.

I couldn't find a Starbucks the morning and couldn't fire up my BucksMe and had to go withou coffee this morning. Not a happy several times daily venti latte ordering customer.

Why not keep an updated GPS POI of Starbuck locations available for download on your website?
