The Bear is Back!

We heard you.  And we listened.  Then we made a great coffee … greater.

As manager of Starbucks Packaged Coffee business, I try to make sure every one of you, our customers, has a Starbucks® coffee you love to brew at home every day.  When we removed Yukon Blend® from our menu last year, you told us we took away one of your favorites.  Well, we are making it up to you.  I am excited to share that Yukon Blend® is coming back and you should see it at your local Starbucks in early September.  I am even more excited to let you know this coffee is now 100% certified organic and still 100% delicious.

Starbucks lore tells the tale of Yukon Blend® as a coffee created for one of our original customers – the captain of a fishing boat.  He asked us to make a coffee blend for his crew that could stand up to the frigid mornings and long days fishing in the cold waters where the Yukon River feeds into the Bering Sea.  We created Yukon Blend®: a hearty, bold, well-rounded coffee that can withstand any adventure the day might throw at you … even icy waves over the bow.

(Re)introducing Starbucks Organic Yukon Blend®.  A legendary coffee as old as Starbucks itself.

Enjoy.  And be ready for your day.

Kevin

I haven't had the pleasure of trying "Yukon" yet.  I'm glad its officially organic now.  It will be my next purchase when I finish my bag of Starbucks "Breakfast Blend".    My girlfriend got me hooked on "Caramel Macciato" (I probably didn't spell that correctly)  I'm hoping some day to have a flavored coffee like that.

So I am clear, this is the same as the Yukon Gold brand? If yes, besides the new Yukon being organic is their any other differences? I am so glad talking to the baristas every time I went into Starbucks about Yukon Gold has played some part in bringing my favorite blend back.

Thank you for listening to us.  Though I'm a bit skeptical that the "organic" addition will somehow change the flavor, I do appreciate your efforts in keeping longtime customers.  I had been using a blend from Colorado (local blend I had shipped to my house....literally across the country from Colorado) but it was not as good as Yukon.  A friend from that state suggested I try it and, while it was better than other blends I tried to find to replace Yukon, it was not "my" Yukon.  Kudos to you, you really DO listen to your customers....not too many companies anymore do that.

yukon certainly is legendary and to have it back in the line up of the world's best coffee is something i have been looking forward to.  yukon blend, for me, is a roast that makes you feel so many things.  it takes you to a memory or a place in your mind.  it has been one of my favorites as a customer for over 10 years...  and, one of the reasons i became a starbucks partner over 3 years ago.  thanks for listening!

Hate to see you bite the dust. Hearing that McDonald's cafe coffees are cheaper and better.  Hope you are hearing this.  With the economy like it is,  you better make some changes.

Why didn't starbuck have the "mint-moca chip frapaccino" with the chocolate whip creap this summer?  I miss that drink...would love to have it all year long!

There seems to be a lot of love for Yukon Blend!  Kevin, thanks for the update.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have been in mourning for my morning bear. I started my day with the Yukon Blend for 14 blissful years, and life just hasn't been the same without it. I am going to assume it will be available in Canada without a long delay, like we had with Pike Place. Fingers crossed.

Yukon Blend is so good, if so many people like it why not brew it in the coffee shop instead of Pike Place.

I brew at home many mornings and shop for packaged coffee often. I appreciate the return of this darker roast offering. But, two points though on your overall offerings. First, you try to command a  2$ per package premium over other, frankly good options, in my experience. Second, I find grinding a 1/2 caf option challenging. Which decaf should I combine with which full roast etc?  Taking a risk on a 10$ bag of coffee discourages trial for me. I prefer SBUX in store experience but I am a only marginally loyal packaged buyer for the two reasons above.

Wow I got to do a mini tasting of the new Yukon today. That'll put hair on your chest. That might be more bold than French Roast.  Can we please put Italian Roast in the brew rotation? ;-)
