Have you seen the new Starbucks Card site?

Hi,

I’m Sally from the Starbucks Card team and I wanted to share some exciting news with you.  Last week, we launched our new Starbucks Card website providing all of our Card holders with a new and improved experience when managing their Starbucks Cards online.  This new site is both simpler and faster.  It features a virtual Card wallet that gives you a single destination to manage all of your Starbucks Cards, Starbucks Gold Card and Starbucks Card Duetto® Visa®.

Here are some of the new features you can enjoy on the site:

  • Transfer multiple Card balances onto one Card
  • Report Cards as lost or stolen and reorder new Cards online.
  • Add your friends and family members’ Cards to your account and set up a one-time or auto-reload amount as a gift.
  • Register your card to benefit from everyday rewards.
  • View your transaction history for up to 30 days.

We’re really excited about the new site, and invite you to check it out .  And, be sure to tell us what you think.

P.S. Please contact us if you’ve forgotten your Starbucks.com account username or password (you’ll need them to log into the site).

This blog was inspired by your ideas:

How about adding a cumulative savings for gold card users so we can see how much we save? Seems like with this new website you should be able to add this function.

How many cards can we have on an account?

<br> <br>

Used to be 3, I hear it is now 4--if so that is too few, I have a large family.

I think you can add as many cards as you need to for this new website.

It looks to me like the limit is 4 cards per account. Of course I wonder, if Starbucks is sending out coupons based on spending per account and there are 5 or 6 people using one account as opposed to one single person, wouldn't that mean the family gets more coupons? I don't really know  ... It probably works out no matter what.

It would interesting for the Gold Card to see when one has to renew the membership. When I click on "membership" for the Gold Card, I'd like to see renewal information rather than a generic advertisement for the benefits of a Gold Card.

Wouldn't it be great to log in and be surprised to learn that you've earned a free renewal?

Melody your idea about when to see the renewal date and if you earned a free renewal is a great one. Are you sure there is a limit of 4 cards per account and does that include the cards you put on the new website that might be friends or family cards that you want up there so you can reload for gifts?

I went to the new "manage cards" site today only to find that my gold card isn't on there.  When I attempted to register it (even though I already had in the past) it wouldn't let me because it was already registered.  When I went to the gold card members-only website, I couldn't log in there and it just referred me back to the NEW starbucks card website...why can't I manage my gold card account anymore?  That's the only card I use now and I can't access it anymore.

@DadCooks2 - You can add or register an unlimited number of cards - thanks for asking!

Sally, thanks for all the good info.  Has Starbucks implemented the electronic gift card program yet?  We want to use SB cards for prize give-a-ways, but need a way to e-mail them across the country.

Great that you can now auto-reload more than one card registered to yourself.  Thanks!

I love the new web site!  It is so user friendly. I found the old one confusing to get to, and it didn't do all of the cool things the new website does.

I had some gift cards that I was able to transfer to my gold and registered cards. It is nice to not stand in a busy line and ask a barista to move money from one card to another. thanks!!!

Have you thought of increasing the discounted savings on the Gold Card to 15%? We are in a recession and people are trying so hard to save and you got to keep prices down on all drinks and food items.

While you're creating a great idea with the wallet card. Please, please do not discontinue the RED card program.  I use it constantly along with my personal cup for every cup o' jo I buy and feel like I'm giving back to the world around me 10 fold!  Not only that, but I get 10 cents off my cup each time!  So much money has been raised for AIDs in Africa from this program from something as simple as a plain old cup of coffee.  It's an awesome program I hate to see it die.

Melody....spot on!!  I have no idea when my Gold card expires.  Will the store staff surprise me one day??   That seems pretty crappy.   There must be some way to know in advance....I hope.

The ideas for improvements to the Starbucks Card site are good ideas, but poorly executed.  The “30-Day” transaction history is capped at 11 transactions, so it doesn’t display any more transactions than it did before.  In addition, every time I try to use the balance transfer function I get the “Oops, there was an error. We're sorry, but we can't process your request right now. Please try again later.” message.  After two emails to customer support, Alexandra S. from Starbucks Card Services said the balance transfer function was working just fine, however, balance transfers cannot be made either to or from a Duetto card.  I guess Duetto cardholders who want to consolidate their card balances are just out of luck.  Of course, the new Starbucks Card site doesn’t mention this huge exception.  Instead, the site leads the customer through all the steps of transfering balances to the Duetto card (entering multiple card numbers and security codes, verifying the card balances, previewing and confirming the transfer) before throwing the “Oops, try again later” error message, which actually has nothing to do with the problem.  Like a lot of Starbucks Card features and functions, these “improvements” to the Starbucks Card site began with good ideas but were then so poorly implemented that they fail to provide the benefit they promise.

By the way, Sally, why are Duetto cardholders prohibited from making balance transfers, and when will this be fixed?  Why is the transaction history capped at 11 transactions?

Just want the freedom to personalize my cards, like the Capital One credit card.  When is that going to be an option?

How about being able to auto load a registered card bi-weekly? Once a month is harder to budget because I get paid bi-weekly.  Better yet, allow the option to autoload weekly, bi-weekly or monthly. That would cover everyone.

I have a serious complaint about the gift card program! Here is my story. I attended the NAB broadcasting convention here in Las Vegas, it is a annual event where thousands come from all over the world. I earned a $10 starbucks gift card by offering an interview of my company to the NAB people after walking miles to find the most obscure office, etc. The next day I brought my mom out and offered her some Starbucks. We waited in line for almost an hour at one of the 3 Starbucks locations the NAB offered. What happened to mom when she got to the front for a latte? They told her the card was no good because she hadn't gone online to activate it. Bullshit, the card says if you want to get a free drink on your birthday THEN you have to go online, but this idea of first having to access a computer (which I don't tend to carry around with me) and offer up all your personal information before you can use something that's 'supposed to be just like cash' is awful. Then the jerk working told me it would be easy for me to just bother a complete stranger to quickly register my card. Ultimately, another woman at of the other Starbucks just took the card and gave us 2 drinks without waiting in a HUGE line after I asked to speak with a manager. Overall, yet another reason for me to avoid the chain all the rest of the year.
