With a little help from our friends… the Beatles!

There's a “Fab Four” music feature in Starbucks stores right now, highlighting four albums from one band – you guessed it, The Beatles.  EMI & Apple Corps Ltd just released the amazing Beatles re-mastered albums and we just can’t stop listening. The line-up in our stores includes: Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, Help!, Rubber Soul, and Abbey Road.  Each CD/DVD package contains fantastic photographs and great mini-documentaries.  For the first time at Starbucks, we've also got our favorite Beatles songs cued for in-store music programming – they were previously unlicensed for overhead play.

To celebrate this great music and recognize our special MSI customers, we’d like you to share your favorite Beatles song or album.  Tell us in the comment stream and we’ll enter you into a drawing for the new MTV Games Beatles Rock Band.  Winner will be announced on Friday, 9/25.  For complete contest rules click here.

having had any love for the beatles destroyed by a co-worker several years ago, there are now only a small handful of their songs i can even listen to without going insane.  among those, i'd have to say the one i can deal with the best is probably "yesterday".

That's really tough...I love all their music!  But I'll go with "Revolution", since that's what's been stuck in my head lately.  =)

Man I feel like a "hater" but I am just bored with the every X year repackaging of the Beatles catalog. I guess Yoko always  needs a new injection of cash and Paul has that divorce to pay for. I know Baby Boomers love the Beatles and as a music lover I can appreciate their work, but for me this is a big yawn. So I will not offer a favorite and expect criticism on my post. :-)

I honestly have to agree with Suite2100 . . . I like the Beatles . . . in small doses. However, my local Starbucks is playing it in vast overwhelming doses. I can't get behind any one song. Sorry.

"Eleanor Rigby" It was the first Beatles song I truly fell in love with. The melody, the lyrics. Just absolutely fantastic. It holds a special place in my heart.

Suite2100 -you are of course entitled to your opinion, but it's not all about the money - it's about introducing a new generation to timeless music, not so different than classic music, which keeps getting reissued.  There were some brilliant articles and  an interview with Giles Martin in the NYT magazine and newspaper  a couple of weeks back about Beatles Rock Band and the remastering of the albums.  Really gave an insight about the purpose of re-releasing this music.   The Beatles song catalog before their breakup was +/- 500.  I would have thought that gave enough variety...although admittedly, if the stores are playing the same few songs repeatedly, that could be boring.

larushka I can see the "new generation" factor - and with the demise of classic rock radio some very young kids may not hear Beatles that much. But for folks like me (mid 30s) we have heard it a TON. And it is not nostalgic for me like it is to my parents who are in their early 60s. And point blank it does seem like every 3-6 years the owners of this music come out with a new "box set"/"anthology"/holiday retrospective or some other re-skin of the same 50 "hits" from this band's large catalog. I for one just cannot get excited about it anymore -- no matter what the format. I do not think I am being cynical when I say that music publishing is mostly about the money. Now if I am off to delete that "Help" ringtone from my Blackberry....

Right now, it would have to be "And Your Bird Can Sing," which is insanely catchy and which I don't think I'd heard in at least ten years until picking up the remastered "Revolver."

As for my children, who already had a keen appreciation for the Beatles and are loving hearing "new" songs, my 7yr old loves everything from "Help!" and my 4yr old is all about "Yellow Submarine."
