24 Hour Starbucks Stores

A recent top idea on MSI has been 24 hours.

We are working on getting this information on the Starbucks.com site but in the meantime I thought I would share with you where these 24 hour store locations are.  There are currently 63 stores total in 15 states.  There are a few in the city that never sleeps.  Where else would you want a 24 hour Starbucks?

Are you sure that Plaza 88 in Marysville is 24 hours? Last time I was there they had switched back to have closed hours from about 2 to 5 am, I thought. ??? I'm not totally sure. And the store on Northgate Way is only sort of 24 hours. I believe the lobby closes at 10 pm, and the drive-thru operates 24 hours.

We need them in college towns! Especially Tuscaloosa, Alabama!  I love studying at Starbuck's so that I can have a steady supply of coffee but hate having to relocate at closing...

Somewhere in the Philly area. Near UPenn maybe? Although I'm not opposed to it being somewhere in the 'burbs!

We definitely need one either in the Philly or Philly Burbs area!  There are a few 24 hour Starbucks spots in rest stops/service areas along the PA Turnpike West of Philly!

The California locations are unfathomable.  Ceres, Dixon, Manteca, and Modesto, but nothing in say, downtown LA, downtown San Diego, Hollywood, or Anaheim?  You know - places where people are.

I would love the Starbucks across from where I work to be 24 hours.  It's across from a big hospital in Milwaukee where employees and visitors are coming and going at all hours.

Somewhere in the Western suburbs of Minneapolis would be nice...there is nothing open 24 hours here. Most coffee shops close at 9 or 10.

Thanks for posting this, I'm sure it is very helpful to many patrons. I believe there are a few locations in Oregon that should be included as well. Portland at Gateway, and Beaverton at Town Square?  You may have to confirm this though, as I moved away 2 years ago and this may have changed.

Hi There,

I am writing from Seattle, WA..

I was surprised when I saw your list of stores in Washington where you have tentatively chosen to place 24/7 locations.  Yet, rather then focus on what has been decided on, I would suggest a location between Madison Park and Capitol Hill.  I understand the varied demographics between these two communities, yet, I think a quality large store in a safe location could benefit the community and Starbucks, " always there for you " approach, I just made up that quote, yet, I think it is true or should be at least.  Thanks much.

Thank you

I checked with the Canada team and currently there are no Canada stores open 24 hours.  Where in Canada would a 24 hour store be beneficial for you?

Melody
11/12/2009 3:35 PM

@C - I just called the Plaza 88 store. They say they're open from 4 am to 2:30 am. That's close to 24 hours, but not quite. (1-360-657-4339). Oh, and "meantime" is one word, not two, in your above context. Thanks. Melody

sbx_bean
11/12/2009 5:19 PM

@Melody - Thanks for checking on the store hours.  This is our dilemma with our current system.  Hours are decided at the store and district level, so to keep our data base updated is a hurdle we face with posting hours online.  Know we're working on it and look for continued customer feedback to keep the info accurate.

I love the idea of being open 24 hours, but I think that you should make every city that has a community college or university have atleast 1 starbucks open 24 hours. That way all the peopl who love to study there can do it at any time. Like Ventura, CA. There are over 3 starbucks around me but none of them are open 24 hours. I think making atleast 1 of them around this area open 24 hours would be great!

sbx_bean - I am a bit of a night owl and appreciate late hour stores. I know 24 hours is a great marketing claim. But if 24 hours is hard to get stores to go to - then say 18-20 hours is fine if more stores would do it. I could see closing  1-2am and opening at 5. I really really wonder how many sales you make from 2-5 am!

Hey there sbx_bean...just a quick note about Canada 24 hour stores.  I believe there is only one store nation-wide that is currently 24 hours, and that is one at the Vancouver Airport (YVR).  It's the one pre-security next to the Jade Canoe Haida Gwaii statue.  It used to be really expensive to get there with parking, but now you can jump on the Canada Line rapid transit and be there for the price of bus fare!

The store on the campus of East Carolina University in Greenville ,Nc would also be popular with the ECU medical center/ Pitt memorial hospital  that work a short distance away as well as all of the various plants with multiple shifts such as DSM pharmaceutical among others. Sheetz has taken full advantage of the University and has police presence evry night, only a block from this Starbucks. thanks

C, thanks for updating the information. I know it is a big hurdle to keep up with, and thinks change quickly as in this case with the Marysville store. However I cast my vote with others who would like to see more stores with later hours. The latest lobby store in Seattle (as far as I know) is University Village, which I think closes at about 2 a.m. I would think that 7th & Pike, or the old Broadway store (434 Broadway, store 304) would be good options for 24 hour stores. ??? Take care, Melody

a 24 hour Starbucks in Canada would be great! Various Starbucks locations in Toronto should be open 24 hours because so many people would take advantage of this-not only students (who stay up late hours for their academics) but also everyone else! Consider this, there are many opportunities where a 24 hour Starbucks is needed. One comes home late from work and needs that perfect latte-the answer is the 24 hour Starbucks. An individual who craves Starbucks at a wee hour in the night while he or she is at home-24 hour Starbucks. Another example is coming back from a play, movie, club, restaurant, etc-yes the answer once again is a 24 hour Starbucks. Open Up 24 Hour Starbucks all over Downtown, Toronto and don't forget about other locations that just miss the Downtown core-like North York.

Thank you.

In Patterson, CA on Rogers Rd.  This drive through gets ALOT vistors.  Especially commuters.  People who live in the Central Valley, usually commute down I5 to 580 to the Bay Area.  In order to avoid the heavy traffic alot of commuters go to work between 3-5 am...there were times I couldnt have my SBX since they were not open yet.  This would be awesome!

Nashville, TN! There are numerous reasons to consider one there or in the nearby area: constantly busy but especially at night when most other places have just closed - it capitalizes on traffic from that plus LOTS of colleges and hospitals plus tourism. It's the definition of a college town and then some.

Of course if I had my way there would be one in nearby Murfreesboro, TN instead but I'm trying to stay *semi*realistic in my newfound optimism of finding out that some 24-hour Starbucks actually exist! My favorite "community"ish one already closed down last year anyway...but I have to say that a couple years ago the one in Murfreesboro right by Middle Tennessee State University on Northfield Blvd. stayed open until 1 AM "for exams" and that seemed pretty successful. It was SUCH a great idea and more locations should really consider that kind of promotion for potentially busier times.

Thanks so much for sharing the info and listing the locations.

We definitely need another one in Southern-Central New Jersey - maybe in Matawan, Marlboro, or Old Bridge. The 24 hour Starbucks on Rt. 18 in East Brunswick is extremely packed constantly. There are tons of college kids from Rutgers, Middlesex County College, Brookdale Community College, etc. that all migrate to this one shop. Countless times I have had to literally sit in my car for over an hour waiting for a table to open, whether it's 2pm or 2am. However, I have also seen many people try to come and then leave because there is never anywhere to sit. Putting another Starbucks in the area would be very beneficial to both the company and the customers.

I would like to see the one on Elliot street here in Beverly, MA be open 24 hours. Its near the highway and I do an overnight shift at the nearest grocery store to that location. Plus the college kids would love it for exam time too. Or at least a bit later as I go to dunkin before my shift as they are open later. I rather go to starbucks so I can get good coffee.

The 24 hour one listed in Round Rock, Texas is not a 24 hour store according to your storefinder.  Being a college town we used to have a few 24 hour stores here, but there are none left - I think it would be great to at least have one or two in our area, for those late night study-a-thons...

The Fort Lauderdale and Miami metro areas offer some great reasons to have some 24 hour Starbucks! There are numerous colleges and universities (including professional students like myself) who could utilize this! Also, this area is still very touristy with the cruise ships and various attractions in the area. Not to mention, the multitude of emergency service professionals (police, EMS, fire) who would benefit. Placing one strategically close to a hospital would also afford some steady customers during the overnight hours.

I'm currently a medical student and I know for sure that plenty of medical students would use a 24 hour Starbucks - myself included! I'm in the Fort Lauderdale area, so one in this area would be much appreciated! I mean, come on, Fort Myers has a 24 hour Starbucks, and they're nothing compared to the visitors and college population we have here in Fort Lauderdale and Miami!

I can't believe there are no 24 hour starbucks in Orlando or Winter Park, Florida.

Between the two cities, there are 3! major colleges/universities (UCF, Rollins College, FullSail University)

This area desperately needs a 24 hour location.

CHICAGO! CHICAGO! CHICAGO! I cannot believe there are only three (technically two,,, you cannot count Northwestern Hospital because you cannot enter after hours unless you are a patient or are with a patient) in all of Chicago they are both far North we live in the South Loop were there are five (5) colleges!!! DePaul University, Roosevelt University, Columbia College, University of Illinois at Chicago and a couple of other community colleges and there is no 24 hour Starbucks for 10 miles?! Not to mention the two stores have no parking!

NOTE: Your Starbucks next to Whole Foods on Roosevelt in the South Loop would be a perfect location to expand there are several other stores closing in that mall and they have the space and parking. There has been so much growth in the South Loop and will double by next year with all of the new construction that the stores that are here cannot keep up and are too small! HELP!!!

I live in Concord NC and there is a Starbucks right off of 85 on Bruton Smith Blvd. I think this location would be great for 24hr store. It is surrounded by 12 yes 12 hotels, it is also less than 2 miles from the big 3 race tracks in Concord. Less than a mile from Concord Mills mall which has a 24 screen movie theater that lets out pretty late. Best of all it has a drive thru, so it could be drive thru only after a certain time.

Please give us a 24hour starbucks in ARIZONA.  Tempe around ASU would be a great choice but other options would be South Scottsdale.   It would be close enough to attract both the student crowd as well as the after hours crowd.  Possible location that is large enough for this would be 9051 East Indian Bend Road, Scottsdale, AZ!  Few others wouldnt be bad either more centralized but the Scottsdale location would be a lot like the 24hr starbucks in Houston.

Weed or Mt Shasta, California would be awesome.  There is a community college (College of the Siskiyous) that I know would benefit from this idea.  There is also a vacant building with drive-thru capabilities right next to I-5 in Mt Shasta (96067) that would leave little building impact on our small towns, and also recycle a building not in use.  Go green!
