Sugar-Free syrups - Under Review!

We also need more sugar free flavors. There are those of us who need the sugar free syrups and the selections are very limited. I really missed the gingerbread this year!! I was waiting for it to come out and then saddened to find out it was not sugar free this year. SO....MORE sugar free syrups PLEASE!! Also some sugar free or lo-cal pastries would be good too! Posted by RojoBarb

Hi everyone, it’s Katie – a registered dietitian at Starbucks.  We’ve seen a lot of recent enthusiasm around Sugar-Free Syrups on MSI.  We wanted to say ‘thank you’ for your ideas and passion and ‘we hear you’!  Personally, I am a Skinny Latte fanatic – I start nearly every single day with a Double Tall Skinny Caramel Latte. I, too, love to treat myself to this guilt-free indulgence – full of flavor with positive nutrients from skim milk, but no added sugar.

As you may know, we currently offer the following Sugar-Free flavors: Vanilla, Caramel, Hazelnut, and Cinnamon Dolce.

We have been listening to your requests for additional flavors and recently posted a ‘Question of the Day’ on MSI that asked readers which Sugar-Free syrup they’d most like to see.  Given the following choices, the customers voted: 18% Peppermint, 28% Mocha, 22% Pumpkin Spice, 14% Gingerbread, 18% Toffee Nut.

We are working hard in the R&D kitchens to bring you the best-tasting product, so stay tuned.

Cheers,
Sbx_kt

My store was part of a test for Sugar Free Classic in Sept 2008.  I can't believe this didn't come out, it was delicious!  No more tearing open 6 splendas and 4 sweet and lows, etc....

can't we bring back the SF Mocha syrup that was here only a year ago? that was the best flavor and everyone used it, but for some reason, it was discontinued

The SF mocha tasted awful, like that old Tootsie Roll you've had in your car for 3 years.  There are splenda-sweetened Mocha sauces, not syrups, on the market that would make a better product for Starbucks than the one most recently tested.

Please, please, please add more sugar-free options.  Your sugar-free syrups are so much better than the other brands that are available.  You guys rock.  Keep up the great work.

Definitely more sugar free syrups would be wonderful!  Also other lower calorie "special" drinks.  How about a fat free whipped cream?

thank you so very much for listening and working on this!!!! I cannot have sugar because I am a diabetic. Therefore, not only the sugar free syrups but also possibly at least one sugar free pastry would be fantastic!!!!  My hips thank you :)

Sugar free is great if Starbucks (and other syrup producers) would return or at least make SF syrups with aspartame-Equal brand, an option. I get very bad headaches from sucralose-Splenda. Therefore, I can only get nonfat milk in my drinks to reduce the calorie content. I get very sick on soy products too.                                                                         We are asked paper or plastic, why not Equal or Splenda??

Would love to see more Sugar free drinks using Stevia instead of Splenda.  Skinny Pumpkin Spice Lattes get my vote.

PLEASE, use a natural sweetner like Stevia instead of the artificial sweetners and PLEASE, remember those of us who don't drink coffee. I drink chai latte iced.  Couldn't you make a chai that is suitable for diabetics or those who don't want all the sugar calories?  That would be healthy!   CallyChai 01/06/10

I think different sugar free options would be amazing. Maybe launching a healthier mocha option would be popular. I was asked many times about a "skinny mocha" or skinny seasonal drink. I always told them we can do the non-fat no whip. But unfortunately we don't have sugar-free mocha or "seasonal sauce".

I am so glad you are working on more sugar free flavors.  I try to keep my splurges at Starbucks under 200 calories.

I had my first Cinnamon Dulce Latte today.  I not only did not like it, it gave me a migraine.  What's in it??  I was sooo  disappointed.  Also was wanting a pairing with oatmeal and that was not available in a discount way.  So I did go over to Jamba Juice for $1 Oatmeal Wednesday and that was great.  I wish Starbucks would do something like that...

I loved the SF Mocha and thought it tasted just fine.  Sure, it's not as great as the regular syrup, but nothing "diet"-"fat free"-"sugar free" is.  Once I got used to it, it was more than fine and worth cutting out the sugar.

If people didn't like it, they don't have to order it, but it'd be nice to bring it back as an option for those of us who did like it, and especially for those people who can't have sugar at all.  This would work at least until you find a different brand the SF divas deem acceptable.

I would love a sugar free pumpkin spice or ginger bread in the winter.

Sugar free toffee nut and sugar free pumpkin spice would be excellent additions.  I always mix the sf vanilla and sf hazelnut to achieve sf french vanillia - which works.

So here we are over a year later and still no new sugar free selections. Let's see, last time there was a new sugar-free option it was SF Cinnamon Dolce. Such a suprising winner that for month you seemed to have to scramble to keep it in stock around the Seattle area. I would have thought as a bright innovate co. you would have taken the hint from this but alas a wonderful selection of holiday special drinks is released with not a one being SF! REALLY!!!
