Learn about the Youth Action Grant Program

Hi everyone, it’s Joelle on the Global Responsibility team.  Rodney from my team wrote about the Starbucks Foundation’s grant to the American Red Cross last week.  As many of you know, the Starbucks Foundation announced a $1 million grant to the American Red Cross to support relief efforts in Haiti following the devastating earthquake on January 12.

The Starbucks Foundation has a variety of funding focus areas including support of relief efforts around the world.  One of these areas is supporting young people who are fostering change in their local communities through the Starbucks™ Shared Planet™ Youth Action Grants.  We believe in the power of young people to change the world and the impact our partners (employees) can have in local communities. We hope that many of the organizations we support create an opportunity for partners (employees) to become involved in their community.

The Starbucks Foundation is currently accepting letters of inquiry from nonprofit organizations interested in the Starbucks™ Shared Planet™ Youth Action Grants program.  Interested organizations can visit www.starbucksfoundation.com/sef  to review the grant guidelines and complete a letter of inquiry by January 30, 2010.
