Introducing the next generation of Starbucks.com

I’m Kim with the digital strategy team - hi there!  I’m really excited to announce the launch of the Starbucks.com redesign! The new site not only offers cool new functionality, but also allows us to share our story through richer online experiences using beautiful visuals and compelling videos. But we’re not just another pretty face on this information super highway...we’ll also use the site to deliver useful and informative content to you!

Through feedback and ideas shared here on My Starbucks Idea and our other digital channels, we’ve discovered how our customers use the site and the most frequently requested information. You’ll discover improved experiences to those most popular online resources and be introduced to a few new ones you didn’t even know you needed:

• An expanded Store Locator which has mapping features and operating hours for all of our company-operated U.S. stores (a top MSI request!)
• A revamped Nutrition section that easily allows you to sort and access important beverage and food information, including allergens
• A robust Starbucks Card section where you can fully manage your account - buy, register, reload and track your rewards all from the comfort of your couch! 

And just as you’re hearing directly from us in our other channels (Twitter...Facebook anyone?), starbucks.com will soon become a place to share in a conversation and community. We’ve introduced blogs from category experts - hear from our coffee experts in the field and discover how the music titles we carry in stores are hand-picked from our friends on the music team.  And soon we’d like to hear from you in the form of commenting directly to the site!

Don’t take our word for it - please take ‘er out for a spin and let us know what you think!  Yup, that little button there that says Make a Comment - hit us up, we wanna know!

You made a major mistake with the redesign--a gigantic Flash video takes up the whole first screen.

Get rid of the Flash intrusion and your redesign will be appreciated.

DadCooks - That too is my number one complaint with the site - Too much flash use. My slow work computer hates the site.  ;) The coffee menu seems improved.

I'm also bewildered that this particular blog entry was written lacking so many links. The introduction of "Starbucks.com" should then be clickable to Starbucks.com and the reference to Twitter and Facebook should be clickable to those pages.

Thank you for making the menu listing more complete and with pictures.

Finally! store hours, this is great.

I do not like the new flash heavy homepage and landing pages, it takes too many resoures when all I want is usually some quick information.

Ok since yesterday I have had problems signing into my starbucks idea. Have had to do a convoluted process to get into this site. Has anyone else experienced this?

I checked out the store locater for London UK and one of the branches in Central London flagged up as being a Manchester branch!!

@Purple1 - Yes I have the same problem. I have to log in through Ideas in Action. It's got to be keeping participation down this weekend!

@LondonScot - That doesn't surprise me at all. It's very hard for Starbucks to keep all the store information up to date on the store locator which is one of the reasons I've been wary of adding more information to maintain.

For example, in theory you can sort by what stores have a Clover, but Starbucks seems to put Clover brewers in stores and then not update the Store Locator, and the website clovercrafted.com is completely forgotten. There is a Clover right downtown Seattle in Pacific Place Starbucks and you can't find that on the store locator either.

I also feel like the whole site sits to my left.

Here I am on this side and signed in, which went A-OK,  so I clicked on "Ideas In Action" it said "welcome Steve 2" like it is supposed to do but sometimes, not always, it says "welcome guest" like when I leave a message on the other side then click on "Ideas In Action" so something is definately wrong.  Also when I post this comment in doesn't appear right away like when I post a comment on the other side.  Why is this?

Hi Kim,

Overall, I would say that I like the features and layout of the new site.  I think it looks clean and well organized.  

However, Store Locator info should be accurate and could be greatly improved.  Echoing what Melody says, when I search for a Starbucks with a Clover Brewing System, the response is ‘there are no stores matching...’ (searched the state of California).

There is one in downtown Los Angeles which was discovered purely by accident, and at L.A. Live nonetheless.  Kind of a big deal, one could argue.  How could something so important go unnoticed or unmarketed?  

www.starbucks.com/clover Sorry, just Seattle, Boston, Miami, S.F./Bay Area.

Hopefully the info on starbucks.com and the iPhone app can be synced up (sorry for the pun) and reliable.  Thank you.

I am a simple kinda guy and the videos I most likely ain't gonna watch - would prefer a more image/text approach vs videos.

I like the redesign, but it would be great if there were greater customization options for drinks on the nutrition page.  For instance, if I get a caramel apple spice with sugar free Cinnamon Dolce syrup, it would be great if I could easily see the total nutrition information.  I track my food, so this is important information to me.

I just checked and it's been updated to finally include Clover/Other details at the location I was talking about!  I'm so happy, and it almost brought a tear to my eyes.  

I don't know if I'm imagining things, but it (Store Locator results) looks as if it's been improved even further - the look, map, details.

Just registered a new card and set up autopay.  REALLY like the new improved site.  So much easier
