Making Coffee the Green Way
Hi there, it’s Sarah from the Merchandise team. My favorite cup of coffee is one that is made in a coffee press. It’s the best brewing method for enjoying coffee’s full, rich flavor; and better yet, it’s a greener way to brew, with no paper filter. So you can imagine my excitement over the fact that Starbucks and Bodum have worked together to develop and bring the Crema coffee press exclusively to our stores—an 8-cup, bright green press, made from 30% post-consumer recycled plastic. Retailing at $19.95 US / $22.95 CAN, it's dishwasher safe, and makes great taste and less waste. If you don’t already own a press (or even if you do, but you covet a little … more »

MSI Coffee Tasting Club Week #6 - Café Estima Blend®
Hi, my name is Teri and I currently work in Global Learning at the Starbucks Support Center in Seattle. Sometimes I just want to shout from the rooftops about how much I love Starbucks commitment to people and community! This really hit home for me when I was privileged enough to visit the coffee growing region of Costa Rica. I got to hear first hand from the farmer how working with Starbucks truly changes lives. The locals call it the “Starbucks Phenomenon”…REALLY, I am not making this up! Café Estima Blend® is just one example of how we help make our planet a better place to live, help preserve the natural environment for future generations and promote economic … more »
One Person Can Save Trees. Together, We Can Save Forests.
Trees are the lungs of our planet. They produce the oxygen we need to breathe. I’d say that’s pretty important. In addition to providing the clean air we breathe, trees are a windbreak on a mountain hike, a home insulator, a natural play structure for children (and adults) and a way to make your neighborhood more beautiful. Trees matter. At the root of all positive change is the idea that it could occur. Believing good things will happen causes us to fully engage in the process of making life better. We have the opportunity to come together as a global community and shape a better world. Join the global movement on April 15. Bring in a reusable mug to a participating Starbucks and … more »
MSI Coffee Tasting Club Week #5 - Caffè Verona®
Hi everyone! I’m Mary and I help support MSI for our Global Consumer Products (CPG) team. My innovation team looks for new product ideas for grocery and club stores. One of our recent favorite new product launches was the very yummy Starbucks® Ice Cream . I’m so excited to talk about Caffè Verona®. It’s my all-time favorite coffee and I’ve been pondering what makes it so special. It was probably the name that first drew me in…the story of Romeo & Juliet…fiery Italian passion for food and coffee. I was curious, so I decided to dig deeper. Caffè Verona® was originally created by blending Yukon Blend® (80%) and Italian Roast … more »
Help us Develop a More Recyclable Coffee Cup – Join the Beta Cup Challenge
As you may know, we have set aggressive goals around making our cups recyclable by 2012, and getting recycling into our stores by 2015. We’ve made some good progress, with recycling now available in our stores in Toronto, San Francisco, and (soon) Seattle for our cups and other packaging. We’ve also held a Cup Summit to bring key players in the cup supply chain together to help drive this because, well, the more brains we have thinking about the problem, the better. So we’ve now found a way to get even more brains involved – the Beta Cup Challenge. Starbucks is sponsoring this contest to develop a more recyclable coffee cup, working with Colaboratorie Mutopo, who run the … more »
