The NEW however-you-want-it Frappuccino® Blended Beverage – Discover YOUR Favorite
We are only 2 weeks away from the national launch of the NEW however-you-want-it Frappuccino® Blended Beverages and we’ve already begun to serve it in some stores. I thought I would give some background on how we developed these new products. Changing a product as beloved as the Frappuccino is not something we’d do lightly. So we tested the new customizable Frappuccino® Blended Beverages for two years in Austin, Tampa, and Dallas. We gathered feedback and listened to reactions from customers until we had it just right. And the results have been impressive: customers in these test markets consistently rated the NEW however-you-want-it Frappuccino excellent on “taste of … more »

In early March, Tim Pfeiffer, senior vice president, Global Design accepted four design awards at the Association for Retail Environments (A.R.E.) awards ceremony held in Las Vegas, NV. The awards recognized our new store designs that were released over the last year. Winning these awards is a significant achievement in the retail design community. New Highly Energy-efficient LED Lighting coming to a Starbucks near You
You probably haven’t noticed, but there has been a big change in some Starbucks stores. In fact, we hope you haven’t noticed – we’ve been switching out incandescent and halogen light bulbs in our stores for new LED bulbs which use significantly less energy - about 7% less energy per store, in fact. Based on a typical store, this will be equivalent to the energy used in a typical home for a year! LED bulbs have come a long way and we’ve been able to find some that provide the quality of light we needed in our stores – warm, inviting, and makes the coffee look even more delicious, and our customers even more beautiful. We did this by reaching out to GE, who developed … more »

One Person Can Save Trees. Together, We Can Save Forests.
Trees are the lungs of our planet. They produce the oxygen we need to breathe. I’d say that’s pretty important. In addition to providing the clean air we breathe, trees are a windbreak on a mountain hike, a home insulator, a natural play structure for children (and adults) and a way to make your neighborhood more beautiful. Trees matter. At the root of all positive change is the idea that it could occur. Believing good things will happen causes us to fully engage in the process of making life better. We have the opportunity to come together as a global community and shape a better world. Join the global movement on April 15. Bring in a reusable mug to a participating Starbucks and … more »
MSI Coffee Tasting Club Week #5 - Caffè Verona®
Hi everyone! I’m Mary and I help support MSI for our Global Consumer Products (CPG) team. My innovation team looks for new product ideas for grocery and club stores. One of our recent favorite new product launches was the very yummy Starbucks® Ice Cream . I’m so excited to talk about Caffè Verona®. It’s my all-time favorite coffee and I’ve been pondering what makes it so special. It was probably the name that first drew me in…the story of Romeo & Juliet…fiery Italian passion for food and coffee. I was curious, so I decided to dig deeper. Caffè Verona® was originally created by blending Yukon Blend® (80%) and Italian Roast … more »
Help us Develop a More Recyclable Coffee Cup – Join the Beta Cup Challenge
As you may know, we have set aggressive goals around making our cups recyclable by 2012, and getting recycling into our stores by 2015. We’ve made some good progress, with recycling now available in our stores in Toronto, San Francisco, and (soon) Seattle for our cups and other packaging. We’ve also held a Cup Summit to bring key players in the cup supply chain together to help drive this because, well, the more brains we have thinking about the problem, the better. So we’ve now found a way to get even more brains involved – the Beta Cup Challenge. Starbucks is sponsoring this contest to develop a more recyclable coffee cup, working with Colaboratorie Mutopo, who run the … more »
