However your want it... unless you want it certified kosher. In that case you're out of luck as the new base isn't certified. The old cream base was. This is one consistent gold card holding frappuccino drinker that you're going to be losing this summer.

Why then can't you get the new base certified kosher?  Seems to me that kosher is part of "however you want it" to me.  I don't understand so please explain.  Thanks!

Hello sbx_jkar!  I am thoroughly enjoying being able to play around with variations on the new Frappuccino - A soy drink or breve ... soon I will be an addict! I'm following the @Frappuccino twitter account too. (Will Gita come here and say hello? I'm @SbuxMel on twitter).

Well, all I wanted to say is congrats on really creating a fresh Frappuccino! I like the new one much better. The milk piece of it really is fresher because it's not this stuff that's been in a carton with sweetener for who know since when.  I like the new Frappuccino, and I'm just gettting started playing around with the variations on it, just for fun.

@Steve2 - It will never perfectly be "however you want it" to 100% of customers. However, hopefully Starbucks will work on this (if there is a real demand). Remember we're still in the soft-launch phase of the Frappuccino! :-)

@sbx_bean: I know the final product is not certified as kosher but previously the creme' base was. This allowed kosher consumers to customize a frappuccino that only consisted of kosher additives.

The problem with the new frappuccino is that the base is no longer certified. This makes it impossible to customize any sort of kosher frappuccino.

Yes there are plenty of kosher-keeping starbucks goers who would never buy a finished product that isn't certified but there are a lot who feel quite confident ordering a handcrafted beverage made with ingredients that they know are all certified as kosher. The new frappuccino base makes this impossible to do with a frappuccino now.

Any ETA on when the new updated nutrition info on the frappuccinos will be on the website?  I am curious to what the calories and and fat will be in a frappuccino with non-fat milk but the new sweet base.  

Is there just one standard base now for what was 2 separate bases for the frappuccinos and frappuccino light?  Otherwise what I'm saying probably isn't making much sense!

Let's see, the last one I tried tasted like a watermelon.  The one before that was so strange I have no idea how to describe it.  The previous 3 tasted like watered down milk.  I've tried every combination and variable amounts of milks, ice, and "bases" or whatever.  All terrible.  So much for "however-I-want-it."  Sad day when places like McD's and Panera have better frappuccinos than Starbucks :(  Oh well, now we will save the thousands a year that we used to spend on Starbucks' old [good] frappuccinos.  

Make the Fraps Kosher!  You will be losing good customers if you don't.  Including me.

Well, "however-I-want-it" is back to the original!  I've been drinking frapps for 15 years and the new recipe is disgusting!  Watery, lacking in flavor and a horrible lingering aftertaste!  I will not be drinking another unless the original is brought back.

OK, I have been enjoying the caramel frap light, extra blended with extra caramel drizzle for almost five years now - probably at least five a week!   I have tried the "new" blend three days in a row now - one extra blended, one regular and one with a bit more coffee and each time I found it disgusting.  I am so disappointed in Starbucks - why change something that people loved??? Why not just add the "have it your way" frappuccino but keep the old one available for those of us that were happy with it.  

Is there a Starbucks in the SF Bay Area that still serves the original?  I've gone 2 weeks now without my daily frapp and would love to have another one.... but not the new one.

I get a plain venti coffee frappuccino.  No added flavors.  The new syrup and/or coffee pump leaves a horrible aftertaste that lingers.  Not to mention that there is no flavor to the drink, just a watery, milky sweet 'fluff'.  Even if I did add more coffee flavor to try to get it to be as strong as the original, it will cost me more.  But, it doesn't really matter because with the disgusting aftertaste and the foamy/watery texture it isn't even worth it.

Just bring the old one back before you lose your frappuccino customers.....

I do not have time to send back a frap 2, 3, 4 or more times until I get it just the way I like it...like the old ones. Or as you are suggesting we get one and then the next time we are in we change something and then the next time we are in we change something else. It is great for business since you will have made $10, $20, or more dollars off me in a week just to continue the changes. I WILL NOT DRINK ANOTHER FRAP UNTIL THE OLD FORMULA IS BROUGHT BACK OR WE HAVE A CHOICE OF NEW OR OLD. And yes I do feel that strongly about it. My family spends a lot of money at 'bucks but that will change.

I'm in Chicago and I just tried my first new frappuccino.  I ordered my usual grande mocha light.  It does taste milkier, but no icier than it did before.  The mocha flavor tastes the same.  I plan on trying it with nonfat milk next time.  My husband, who has never liked frappuccinos, tasted it and said it tastes better.  The barista who made it said she hasn't had any complaints and was surprised to hear that people have been complaining online.  I'm not an everyday frappuccino drinker, but I don't plan on ordering them any less often than I have in the past.

In the past I was a very loyal customer of Starbucks.  I visited Starbucks 20-25 days out of the month.  The only product I bought was a Mocha light Frappuccinno.  The reason is that it was my reward for working out.  It had around 110 calories and 2 grams of fiber.  I loved to feel like I was having a coffee shake, but without the calories.  The employees new exactly what I wanted and I have never sent back a drink until this week.  Your new Frap is a wonderful tasting Oatmeal cookie that tastes nothing like my mocha light Frappuccino.  It has more calories and no fiber.  If I wanted an Oatmeal Cookie I would buy your oatmeal cookie.  They made 4 different Frappuccinos today and none of them tasted like the original.  I think this new Frappuccino should have been launched as a new product.  Please return the original recipe.  I unfortunately loaded my gold card with 25 dollars the day you changed the formula.  So I am desperately trying to get rid of the balance so I can move on to something else or somewhere else.  I should have just asked for my money back that day.  I know you have worked hard on this product launch, but I don't like you understand your loyal Frappucinno consumers.

Along with Frappaholic, I would also love to know if there are any locations in the SF Bay Area that are still using the original base.  I'd drive a long way to get one.  As it is, I have money on my gold card and postcards for two free drinks.  And the new frappuccinos?  I don't even want one if it's free.  And like some other commenters, I tried four different days to "get it how I want it."  The truth is, the new drink is exactly that -- a new drink.  And I can't get it like I want it, because I want the old drink.

I am excited about a decaf option.  I had to switch to iced drinks, and I have missed Frappuccinos in the summer! Thanks!

I am looking for info on the new base. I have severe soy allergies, will that be in the base? I dont want to give up my frap

Please, I miss the old formula.  I would drink at least 4 carmel light fraps a week... and do not like the new formula.  I have tried extra syrup, sugarfree syrup and different suggestions and have even tried the caffe' vanilla light frap... I am about to give up... those of use who loved the old ones are not happy!

@frappaholic and lbw - I work at a bay area store and while we only serve the new frapps, other stores might still be working through their old stock for a few more days.  Check out the stores along El Camino Real in San Mateo and Burlingame.  Good luck.

In general, I haven't heard any negative complaints about the new recipe.  We have a few hard-core frapp drinkers and they still keep coming back.  Personally, I like the fact that we aren't using pre-mixed base anymore - it seems a little more natural using milk and espresso - the syrup base is gross though.

This is the FIRST postive comment I have heard about the new recipe. As a loyal Frap drinker for 5+ years (every day), I will be no longer buying it anymore. If you do not like the new frap, please become a friend of STARBUCKS NEW FRAPPUCCINO RECIPE SUCKS on Facebook.

As far as the barista fixing your drink to order - whoever came up with that concept as never worked in a Starbuck's at 7:15 a.m. on a weekday. My local Starbucks always has a line in the morning - both inside the store and in the drive-thru.

I must agree with so many others....BRING BACK THE OLD FRAP!!!!!  I am not a fan of the new formula and realized that I may have to find somewhere else to get my daily caffine fix.  I go to Starbucks at least once a day...however I would much rather spend my money elsewhere if I am not going to enjoy my frap!!!!  If it's not broke don't fix it!  The orginial formula was great so please bring it back!!!!

I had been buying a Venti White Mocha Frapp with 2 shots blended in and 4 pumps of syrup and caramel drizzle for many years. Yesterday went in to get one and they said they dont make it like that anymore etc and I had to get this new version that doesnt include shots or original base anymore. They wont add shots at all but will add some other type of syrup to it instead.

I honestly did not like it and would really like to be able to order it the way I used to get it. This new way of making it tastes more like dark chocolate not white mocha and I thought it was terrible.

I will not continue to purchase this new version.  I guess I will be going without fraps from now on.  

I used to also buy lots of other stuff including via, syrups, coffee, and cups etc and now that gold card changed as well I find the new reward program horrible as well.  So off to find somewhere else for my coffee needs!!

So, basically I am not a fan of these new changes!

Do the new frappucinno's have the same nutritional data as the old ones? And if not, when will the data be available online?

I too have food allergies.  I am a huge Caramel Frap Light fan and visit Starbucks several times a week.  What's the best way to see the ingredient list on the new light base to be sure it's safe for those of us with allergies?  And is there a recommendation of what will be closest to the taste and calorie content of the caramel frap light?

My hubby tried one of the 'new' mocha fraps and, uh hello, no mocha flavor at all. How much has to be added to taste it?  Sorry his preference has become Pete's Mocha Freddo, and I must say they are very good. Not to sure how these new drinks will go over. I haven't tried one yet, but if there is a funny aftertaste, I won't go back for another. Lucky for me, the GTL hasn't been changed. That would send me out the door for sure.

I swear, Starbucks could cure world hunger or make world peace a reality and there would still be someone there to complain about it.  Kudos to SBX for even caring enough to have a space for consumers to give ideas.  I appreciate it.

Thanks for the opportunity to tell you how much I hate the "NEW" base. I have been a loyal daily customer/frap drinker for a long time and you have completely ruined it for me. I have tried the new base twice now (i waited 2 weeks to come back and try a second one) that is how bad it was. I asked the cashier about the feedback at her store and she said that it wasn't good. Sorry Starbucks you got it wrong this time.

I personally think the new frapps are delicious.  I did not notice any odd aftertase, in fact I love the texture and lighter, more natural flavor.  The ability to have a more customized beverage has always been one of the hallmarks of Starbucks, and this keeps in with that tradition.  I understand that the nutritional info on the new frapps will be coming out soon, but I have been told that the majority of them will have significantly less calories than the original - also something to cheer about!  

I have been drinking the same drink for almost 10 years daily.  I have given your new frap a few chances but I find the taste disgusting and the aftertaste is even worst. I have also ended up with a terrible upset stomache.  I honestly did not like it.  This has encourge me to quit so in a way thanks for helping me save $4.45 a day. I will not be going back unless you bring back the old formula.  BTW I also tried the strawberries and creme and it was taste less.

I would love to see an ingredient list on this to see if it is something I can have with all of my food allergies.  Just because it is dairy free doesn't mean it is safe!

Also, $4.10 is allot to pay to try these different combos to finally find one you like. The new fraps are really foamy, not sure why that is.

@sbx_bean - needing kosher certification has nothing to do with having dairy ingredients . . . it has to do with having ingredients period.  Even if all that's in the new base is sweeteners and flavors, many kosher consumers will not use it unless it has certification.  Starbucks already has a relationship with the OU kosher certification agency, so it probably wouldn't be so hard to ask them if they're willing to certify the new base.

Also, the fact that the bottled fraps are kosher doesn't help, because several baristas have told me that they're not allowed to use the bottled frappuccino as a base (and while some will do it if you ask them, they always say that they really shouldn't), and a bottled frappuccino is completely different than a blended frappuccino.  Also, there are only a few flavors of bottled fraps, so it really limits what you can get.

I understand that it's not easy to get a product kosher certified, but Starbucks has a lot of kosher consumers, and you should at least try.  If you try to get certification and can't, at least then you can say, "sorry, but we tried" instead of saying that something is probably kosher just because it doesn't have dairy.

Like many, many other posters here, on Facebook, on Twitter, and elsewhere on the web I really dislike the new Frappuccinos -- I also find them milky and watered down.

Customizable frapps are a great idea, but you've changed the basic formula so much you're alienating a lot of loyal customers such a myself.

There's a simple solution: offer a "classic" flavor or two on the menu. I'd be happy to walk up to a barista and say "I'd like a venti classic coffee frapp" and know that I'll consistently get the same product.

I'm totally addicted to the Mocha Light Frappuccino and am thrilled to hear that I can order it decaffinated, sugar free and made with skim milk!  A much healthier alternative!

I like the current (old) Fraps. So if the base changes for the worse and I can tell a difference there is no amount of customization that will get me to stay a customer. Sorry @sbx_bean. Taking out dairy and making the new base and changing to "sweetness and flavor" as a base justs sounds cheap and disgusting. Throw on some more high fructose corn syrup while you are at it.

This is going to be Coke (classic) vs New Coke all over again. See how long it took Coke to clean that mess up?

My love affair with Starbucks is OVER! The new fraps are terrible. It's like sucking air with whipped cream. Not worth the $4.58 I am more than willing to pay for a real Raspberry Great Tea Frap. My Dream Team has tried to doctor it, but it's awful. Please let me know when you realize this is a bust of an idea. Bring back the original formula -- and the blackberry green tea flavor while you're at it. I'll miss you!

The change was made at my local Starbucks without any notice to customers.  I could not figure out what the heck was wrong with my drinks, but actually thought I might be sick as I couldn't taste any FLAVOR in my frap lights.  This clears up the mystery.  One of my favorite things in life was the sbux light fraps.  Sadly they are gone, and with them, my long time love affair with Sbux has ended.  Ah, but the memories are sweet.  We'll always have the memories.

I had not heard about the changes and was surprised a few weeks ago to be told by the barista that they had changed the formula.  When I tried my usual Caramel Light Frappuccino, I was so disappointed but as the barista had pointed out they were just learning the new process so I thought I'd try it again.  I've tried it 3 times now and I'm done.  It's not disgusting or undrinkable but it is certainly not the delicious treat that I used to look forward to.  Although I will miss them it's certainly better for my wallet and my waistline to skip it.

I'm in Portland, OR and am on my 5th day without my 2 daily Java Chip Light Frapps. Are there any stores in the Greater Portland area that still serve the good Frapps? Please??? I still can't beleive that Starbucks would just completely scrap such a popular product without consideration of all of the loyal customers they'd be losing! You won't find me anywhere near a Starbucks unless they're serving the old Frapps!

I am an Austin resident and a die-hard Frappuccino fan.  For a very long time, my day was not complete until I'd had my Frappuccino.  You might say that I am a connoisseur of Frappuccinos.  Then, one day two years ago, something awful happened.  They changed.  I complained, and asked if other customers had complained.  I was told by my local baristas that other people "liked" it (I find this hard to believe).  I found myself buying fewer and fewer Frappuccinos, and when I did, I would go out of my way to go to the Starbucks inside Target, where they still used the old formula.

The new Frappuccinos are a milky, watery, flavorless mess.  They are NOT the product that has made you millions upon millions of dollars for the last 15+ years.

I am begging, as only someone who truly loves Frappuccinos and Starbucks can beg.  For goodness sake, I hang those christmas-tree ornaments that look like Starbucks cups on my tree every year.  My friends and family smile, and say "those must be yours."  Please, please bring back the old Frappuccino.

The way I would like my frap is back to the previous delicious way.  It was so much richer and had a great coffee flavor.  The new one is watery, doesn't taste like coffee, and has a terrible fake-sweet aftertaste.  I believe the previous pre-made base was made with 2% milk.  The default on the new frap is whole milk.  So it has more fat but less flavor???  I don't get it.  PLEASE bring back the old recipe.  My drink is a venti java chip, add a shot of espresso and pump of cherry.  It was delicious and I miss it!

Whatever happened to the banana coconut frappacino?

I've definitely noticed a taste change in the Green Tea Frappuccino that I usually order. I DO NOT like the new taste at all. The Green Tea Frapp that I loved had a melon flavoring to it which you've already taken away to replace with the "original" Green Tea Frapp. So this would be another change yet again. This new recipe is tasteless and too "milky". Please change back to the old recipe and give us the option to add that melon syrup. That gave it a lot of flavor. Starbucks Frappuccinos are absolutely my favorite drinks and I would hate to have to stop. However, my husband would thank you because we would save quite a bit of money with me not going to Starbucks anymore.

SO disappointed in the new caramel frap and how awful they taste. I don't think I could ever pay to drink one again. How can it be customized to taste most like the original base? I tried 2 pumps coffee base and extra caramel and it was even worse than the first. What last-ditch effort can I try before going to the coffee house down the street?

#1) when I just now signed-up/registered, it asked me to check whether I would like "offers and communications" from Starbucks "VIA US MAIL" - I checked "OK" - but it never asked for my address.

Does Starbucks magically have my name and address?  ;)

#2) years ago (late 90's) before I even heard of starbucks or fraps, there was a little coffee shoppe that served and "iced mocha".  I quickly became absolutely, insanely addicted to this drink and noticed I was spending many days (and lots of money) there.  I used to joke that it was as addicting as some drugs - it WAS!  Then, one day they ran out of that "stuff" I always saw them putting in my drink while making it and had to use Ghiradelli chocolate and some other ingredients.  Well, we're not talking Nestle's Quik here (no slight on nestle!), this was high-class stuff.  But - it - was - terrible!!!!!  I knew right then and there - there was nothing that compared to whatever the heck they were making my iced mocha with.  After many weeks/months of watching them put in this "secret" base (and many, many paychecks later), I finally HAD to ask - - what IS that stuff?  It was driving me crazy -- haha!  They very kindly showed me the bag it came in and that very day I went home and found this on the internet and have been ordering it myself and making it ever since!!!!!!!!  And saving Big Bucks in the process. (Oh, and making it at home -- I know for a fact you can customize it anyway - no need for a "new" base).

NO other place (unless they use this base) comes close -- until Starbucks Fraps!!!  I WILL spend money on and buy SB FRAPS, as I have for many years.

But, after reading all these reviews, I doubt I will be as "addicted" to the new formula.   There are just some things in life you do NOT "mess" with.  Remember "new" coke!  What a disaster?

Didn't they "market and test", too?  Hmmmmm.

#3)  If a decaf frap is part of the new "have it your way" - then what in the heck have I been ordering....and receiving....all these years of paying for a "decaf mocha frap"...huh?  

Can you bring back the coconut syrup, and get in some almond syrup?

Are you folks out of your mind screwing with Java Chip?  Didn't you learn any kind of a lesson from Coke?  You have the best tasting cold beverage in the known universe and you want to screw around with it?  I honestly don't understand that kind of thinking.  You must be out of your minds.  Maybe all of that constant caffeine 24/7 has rotted your brain cells?

Can you please just leave Java Chip alone?  Please?  Change the recipe of anything else on your menu, I don't care, but leave Java Chip alone.

After reading some of these posts, I have to wonder what "discover YOUR favorite" really means.

Raspberry Great tea frap?

Green Tea with melon syrup frap?

Bananna and Coconut frap?

Caramel Frap light?

tazoberry and tazoberry and cream frapps?

Strawberries and cream frap?

And I could list dozens more apparently!  I never even heard of some of these combos and flavors.

Sounds like folks ALREADY had their "favorites" and now the frap rug is being pulled out from under them.....sigh!  :\

I am SO disappointed in the new syrup concoction.  I have been getting a venti java chip frap light for almost 5 years now, several times a week, sometimes even twice a day.  I've always referred to it as "Happiness in a Cup."  No longer.  I've tried the new formula three twice now, and both times, it was very poor.  Today I lucked out and went to a Starbucks (only to see if they had the old mixes still, not to buy the new one) and had success.  I was so happy to have MY frappuccino back, but sadly, only until they run out of mix.

PLEASE give us out frappuccinos back!  Keep the new if you must, but go back to the classic for those of us who liked the old way.

I'll only be stopping in to Starbucks now and then to see if the old mix is back, as the new is a colossal waste of money.

Oh, if you do bring the classic back, please also consider bringing back the banana coconut syrup.  That was terrific, too. :-)

You know what would also be a great idea! Being able to add whey protein like the seasonal protein smoothie drinks they had  awhile ago. To be able to do this would be awesome! Especially for those who may need or want a protein drink such as, vegetarian's, body builders or even those who seek it as a benefit to keep full longer. Some may even see it as meal replacement with their coffee, for those who may be in a hurry.

Well I spent over two grand a year on this drink because I like it and it was the only way I would drink coffee.  The Barista's tried to make it like the old but this one leaves a bad aftertaste (my daughter and wife tired it as well, they won't drink it anymore).  My niece works for Starbucks and has tried to help as well but between the awful taste to start with and the awful aftertaste (we all had to brush our teeth right away after drinking it) I've just stopped going to Starbucks altogether.  I will miss you guys, you had a great product, I'm going to use the money instead for scuba vacations instead.  Thanks for pushing in that direction.  

Time Lord -  ditto.  I'm done with Starbucks.  I'll save my money for a great vacation.  Knowing how awful the new fraps are and that Starbucks DOES NOT make it MY WAY, I won't be at all tempted to go to Starbucks!    Thanks for breaking my habit Bux!

The new frap is HORRIBLE. It leaves an aftertaste and is bubbly and watery and completely terrible.  You are losing a daily customer until the old version returns.  However, one good thing did come out of this change, I have taken my business to Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf and their version of "fraps" is really good and they customize with no sugar added and anything else you can think of!!  The calorie count and carb count is lower as well.  For all of those people upset about the change, go try Coffee Bean, I am extremely happy with them right now!

i like the new fraps. i get a coffee light frap with sugar free syrup every day and like the new ones as well as the old ones.  Maybe better because I can have a late afternoon decaf and there are no more blobs of ice at the end!

HOW DARE YOU PPL at starbucks, I have been LOYAL for five years, everyday, buying my drink that I loved, and may I say, kinda created myself, TODAY, after a long crappy shift, all I wanted was my starbucks. I drove my usual 15 miles round trip outta my way to get my 'fix' how disappointed I was, my lady that makes my drink came to the window and told me about the change, she made the drink five times and it was still , she was about to cry! I felt so bad, and me too, that I finally just took the drink and drove away, and btw, stopped and threw it away (I want my six bucks back!)I come to starbucks b/c none of the other places are (were) as good quality as yours, unique, if I wanted milk, ice, and INSTANT coffe blended together, Id save money and do it at HOME! Are you doing this to maybe save money, (CONCENTRATED SHOTS OF ESPRESSO!) are you using all of that VIA that NO ONE is buying? If we wanted that crap, we'd go to carribou coffee, I cant believe you did this to us, just go to facebook, look up "new frappuccinos suck'  and you will find HUNDREDS of pages already dedicated to the hatred of the new ones!  I know a lot of you may not be old enough to remember, but in the mid 80's coca-cola came out with 'new coke' and it was a failure! You dont  with something that was already PERFECT! Dont you ppl remember your history? The 5% you are trying to satisfy, will not help ur business enough to make up for the 95% that will now be going to mcdonalds now, and trust me, we will, we WERE loyal, and you just said" *** you, we dont care"

My husband and I both visit our local Starbucks sometimes twice a day. We love(d) it! Since, you have changed the frapp formula, we will NO LONGER be spending $28.00 a day! Plus gas, plus leaving earlier in the morning to drive 20 miles prior to going to work....Sad, sad, sad! I will be sure to tell all of the 100's of people I come in contact with everyday, including my kosher friends, to try the "other" coffee shop! Since Starbuck opened in Clemson in January of 2008 YOU DO THE MATH as to what my husband and I have "given happily" to Starbucks! However, never again....unless they stop serving this watery,overly sweet,time-absorbing (due to what the baristas have to go through to make this gross "drink") and utterly UN-satisfying goop. Almost 24,000+/- dollars later....We are moving on! We loved the employees...they knew us by name...and our children, heck, even our dog! I will be checking in on them from time to time but, not to buy a frap/crappucinos!! Relationship is severed....Thanks, Starbuck Corp! Way to go!!And Buh-Bye!

The new Frappuccino tastes like a milk slushy...it is the most disgusting thing I have ever tasted! It is actually undrinkable! I was in a Starbucks today and every single person who ordered a Frappuccino sent it back. I have been getting a Coffee Light Frappuccino every day for the past 8 years but I refuse to get another one until they bring back the original mix! What was Starbucks thinking? Why would they change their most popular drink right before summer? They are going to lose so much money! They have certainly lost my business and I was a very loyal customer. I am so enraged, I created a Facebook group: "BRING BACK THE ORIGINAL STARBUCKS FRAPPUCCINO MIX." Pleae join so we can bring back the original Frappuccino as soon as possible.

It actually makes no sense...they changed the Frappuccinos so people can get exactly what they want: "You can have whatever Frappuccino you want..." except the original one, which is the one that everyone wants!

Will there be a base that contains Stevia?

Does this mean the "Mocha Malt" from - seems like 2004-2005 - is now back on the menu?  Will they have malt in stock?

because its getting nicer weather ive put off for 2 weeks on getting me a venti mocha caramel frap with both drizzles. i broke down on fri. the 23rd and found that i waited way too long. i paid how much for a NASTY AFTER TASTE? not to mention the NO FLAVOR!  thanks strbks  you just helped me add a lot of money back into  my budget. wouldnt be suprised if you didnt loose  A LOT  of customers over this. if i can get a frap"any way i want it"  I WANT THE OLD ONE BACK. have a nice summer without me!!!!!!!

Can you also include "light whipped cream"? Having a non-fat milk frap w/o it is fruitless!!

The new mixture gives the drink a  different texture and taste. Before I was willing to spend $5 for a drink that makes me go...WOW!  This drink is like a shake... so though I'm going through withdrawals ... I will have to leave Starbucks behind. I'm sure they will see a BIG change in sales for fraps because all of my frap loving friends are bummed out.  How can we get Starbucks to at least offer a choice to get the old mixture again??!!  Sad... Sad...

I use to purchase a Venti caramel light frap daily.  I am sorry and very disappointed to say, I no longer purchase any fraps.  The new frap mix is terrible with a horrible after taste.  My barista tried many, many times to make the new frap mix so it had a good taste with no success.  It just cannot be done!!  I certainly hope Starbucks will bring back the old, delicious frap mix soon.  I miss my daily, delicious frap drink.  Starbucks, please listen to your thousands of loyal, daily ex-frap customers and bring back the old frap mix.  Please give us a choice.  It's true that I am saving lots of money, but I rather have my old frap mix back.   Thanks!

I called customer service almost two weeks ago, trying to get an answer as to whether the new fraps have gluten-containing ingredients in the syrup.  My local store got labels indicating gluten was in both the light and the mocha syrup for the new drinks.  The "regular" syrup did not have a nutritional label. When I called back yesterday, I was told the service agent was still researching the question and some of the information may be proprietary.  Seriously, Starbucks? How can all your testing and development of this new beverage not include information about what's in it?? How can that information not be made available for consumers?  As a customer of many years, I am really frustrated and annoyed. Do you even read this board?  Several people have posted messages about food allergy concerns. How about some answers?

I am sorry to say but the new base is horrible!!!  I am a gold card member that is thoroughly disgusted!!!  I WAS buying a Mocha Frap daily.  Must I say "WAS"!!  If this is what you choose to serve your loyal customers, I will no longer be purchasing!!!!!

My wife and I like Frappucinos a lot.  However, the area stores switched to the new recipe a few weeks back and we haven't bought one since.  That's 2-3 visits per week, now gone thanks to this new recipe.  I'm sorry, but they are disgusting and taste like what I would imagine a dog's butt would taste like.  

Terrible decision on your part.  Please consider bringing the old version back if you want our continued support and business.  

This seriously has to be one of the worst ideas EVER!!!! I only created an acct. so I can share my disgust with you guys.  The new frapps SUCK, they have no flavor except a nasty  aftertaste!! Not to mention since I am a barista, the torture you have inflicted on your employees to make and actually push this blended crap...I think Mcdonalds will see success this summer with their frappes if the old recipe is not retured ASAP!! Like a lot of people who are unhappy in their posts, I can tell you that I have not had one customer who likes this stuff. I have gotten nothing but complaints, and even had to refund a few people... Please listen to the majority of the people and get rid of this stuff!!!

the new frappuccinos are absolutely HORRIBLE.  ive gotten a frappuccino everyday for the last 10 years. I hope starbucks realizes the horrible mistake they are making and bring back the old mix.

Question:

Does the new Frap mix contain Aspartame?  ( I read this in another post)

If so, it might explain the after taste - and it means that I won't ever be drinking them as Aspartame and other artificial sweeteners give me a splitting headache. Oh well.

I'm sorry, but the new frap mix is terrible! The past three times I've gone to Starbucks I've had them make my grande caramel light frap at least twice, and i have yet to achieve my perfect "customizable" frap. Here's the problem: customers that LOVED the old frap want it to taste the same, but since that one was pre-made, we have no way of knowing how to customize it to our liking. How am I supposed to know how many pumps of coffee or caramel or whatever will make it taste right? Plus, customizing can get expensive if you want an espresso shot or something. And I KNOW you say to "let the baristas help you" but they don't know exactly how you want it either and straight out tell you it's pretty impossible to make it taste the same as the old one.

I understand that the recipe was tested for two years, and I recently found out that one of the starbucks I visit rarely in San Marcos, TX was actually a test market. Light bulb!- so thats why your fraps always tasted so bad! Honestly, when I got a bad frap from them, I didn't complain because by that time I had driven away and just assumed it was the occasional poorly made drink. If I had known it was a different recipe, I definitely would have spoken up. I can't help but wonder if perhaps this is what happened with other customers. I'm sure some may have liked it, but I cannot see how it possibly pleased the majority. Please bring the old mix back,  offer it along with the new one, or tell me how to customize the new one so it will taste like the old! I don't mean to gripe, but I want my old Starbucks back!!

I have heard from many people that Stevia has a bad after taste. I wonder if this is what is causing the bad taste for those that drink the light frappacinos?

I too will be saving $$...I WAS a daily frappacino drinker but not anymore.  The new frapps are terrible!!!

At least bring back the old mix for those of us that WANT the original frappacino.

Another former lite frappuccino drinker here ...my favorite summer (and occasionally winter!) beverage gone to the dogs. It has an awful lingering chemical taste and almost no coffee flavor.  Sorry, Starbucks, you've lost another customer unless you bring back the old formula.

The new how ever you want it is not how I wanted. Sure its customizable, want another shot? how about 10? BECAUSE we charge for all of them. And to get it even a bit creamy I have use whole milk. More expensive, far more fattening and it taste nasty.

Jennifer K - My Starbucks makes the frappuccino light blended beverage with whole milk.  They don't use nonfat milk unless you ask for it.  They told me that the only difference between the light and the regular is the sweetener.   I noticed that you stated above that the light beverage is made with nonfat milk and I'm wondering if my Starbucks is making it incorrectly.  

 Long story short...  The NEW mocha lite frappacino is one of the most DISGUSTING drinks I've ever tasted!!!  And this comes from someone who has had one almost daily for the last nine years!  What were your marketing people thinking???

  Yesterday I thought it was some sort of mistake by the person making it, but I hesitantly tried another today and it was just as repulsive.  I know it sounds strange, but I feel betrayed by Starbucks for making this change.   Seeing all the other posts with similar views here leaves me wondering if this will you're going to have a "changing the Coke formula" debacle to deal with.  As an investor, this new drink line is certainly a "sell" signal.  

 Suppose I should thank you though ...you've finally cured my addiction to Starbucks.   As much as I crave the old frappacino, there is just no way I could ever again order one of the new.  This will save me thousands.  

And until the old frap mix comes back, Starbucks is coming off of my facebook page.  I'll lose friends if they go there on my recommendation, and I who would blame them!

AGH!! everyday for 10 years venti caramel frap, the one thing i looked forward to every morning, even weekends! now im like ugh where am i gonna get a frap today.. just wrong of you people, i have tried every way possible to like this, i get charged more every time and i still throw half of it away, how do justify just "poof", gone, too bad to your years of dedicated customers that have made you what you are today, now its about targeting new customers with your nutrtional drinks, maybe some of us dont care and just want our one vice for the day to kick start us, give your new customers the option of this new nasty formula and give your old dedicated customers what you teased us with for so many years. I am looking for a new place and definitely protesting *bux, i am seriously craving the taste of my old frap, listen to your customers!! :{

I just tried, for the last time, to make this new frap work.  And it just doesn't.  No matter how you customize it, you can not get past the watery consistency and weird sweet aftertaste.  I miss that rich creamy consistency even though it was made with 2% milk (vs. the default whole milke used in the new frap).  It was delicious!   SBUX keeps saying "customizing is fun".  No, it's frustrating, especially when you try over and over and over and just can't get there.  A basic business principle to ensure a company's longevity is that the company must be "easy and pleasant to do business with".  This new frap thing is the opposite of easy and pleasant.  My favorite barista share with me this morning that 90% of the frap customers very much dislike the new frap.  The loyal frap drinkers would like to hear back from SBUX as to when the classic frap will be made available again.
