Chocolate Chunk Cookie Recipe Improved Thanks to Your Ideas

Have you ever wondered what happens behind the scenes with your food? I love TV cooking shows that take you behind the velvet ropes and show how your favorite foods are made.

Here at Starbucks our partners behind the scenes work hard every day to bring you the tastiest food possible. Last summer, we removed artificial dyes, artificial flavors, artificial trans fat and high fructose corn syrup from our foods to deliver tastier items with simple recipes just like you can make at home.

Our Chocolate Chunk Cookie recipe was improved to remove all that unnecessary stuff, but you let us know through customer comments and My Starbucks Idea that the new recipe wasn’t as delicious.

Megan, one of our product developers and an amazing baker got to work. It’s a tough job but someone has to do it – so Megan began baking and eating chocolate chunk cookies.

It reminded me of the Friends episode (another show I love!) where Monica was determined to be the mom with the best chocolate chip cookie and bakes dozens of batches to find the perfect recipe. Well, Megan definitely found it! Starting this month you’ll see our tastier chocolate chunk cookie packed with premium chocolate chunks, a delectable buttery chewy texture and a beautiful baked golden brown color.

LOVE the new receipe, Starbucks! Awesome business model of listening to your customers, who keep you in business -- I know of way too many companies who have stubborn, "know-it all," and egotistical executives who refuse to get input from their customers. I just bought 3 cookies -- one for me and 2 for my friends! :) Keep up the good work!

What's it like? Chocolate chunks you can see and has a real presence in your mouth; the dough is soft and chewy and sweet in every bite which means the batter was mixed thoroughly... perfection.
