Which Veggie Breakfast Sandwich would you Like?

Many of you have told us on MSI that you would like a veggie breakfast sandwich.  We’ve been busy working on this idea, but we still need your help.  We have two concepts to share with you.  Which would you prefer?

  • Cheese & Veggie Breakfast Sandwich
A generous portion of Monterey Jack cheese on top of a veggie & egg frittata on an artisan ciabatta roll.
  • Eggs Florentine Breakfast Sandwich
Chopped spinach, garlic spread, havarti cheese and a parmesan egg frittata on an artisan ciabatta roll.

Share your comments below and vote on the "Question of the Day" on the MSI homepage.

Thanks!

Really would like Cheese & Veggie.  I'm not really one for havarti cheese.  But please just keep the Huevos Rancheros Wrap and I'll be happy!

I think I would prefer the Eggs Florentine one -- but I would like the other one as well. Glad to see this is in the works!

I love garlic, but not in the morning for breakfast... unless it is really mild.  Bad for the office environment.

Definitely the Eggs Florentine.

My question is why is there always cheese as a central component.  I know everyone loves cheese, but cheese does not love me.  Is there anyway that there can be a cheese-free veggie alternative?

shb36
7/29/2010 2:08 PM

you should do something with avocado, yumm. Or an option without egg. Some people, myself included, do not eat eggs.

I would prefer the Eggs Florentine as well, however I think the majority of your customers would choose the less exotic Cheese and Veggie.  It's a shame you can't offer both.

I had the Eggs Florentine while they were trying it out in Vancouver. Was my favorite and wish it was still around. Loved it! Absolutely loved it!!!

Oh wow... Please, please, PLEASE offer both! As a vegetarian partner, I would absolutely love both of these.

7/29/2010 2:10 PM

Both sound AMAZING!!  And as a vegetarian, I would take either option just to have a breakfast sandwich option at Starbucks.  And I agree with steveo1485 - keep the Huevos Rancheros wrap! I love that I can grab a quick bite for lunch at my favorite SBUX!

I vote for Eggs Florentine without the GARLIC. Who wants to walk into work or meeting with GARLIC BREATH!

I would probably eat either one, but lean toward the Eggs Florentine because of the spinach.

7/29/2010 2:10 PM

I've never ordered the breakfast sandwiches before.  Are they premade or prepared fresh in store?  I have an egg allergy so I usually end up with Oatmeal.

If they're made fresh like at other chains then I don't have a problem asking to leave it off. The QuikTrip conv store chain here in the central/southern US has a habit of adding mayo (which is a major no-no for sandwich storage) to all of their locally prepared sandwiches which counts me out.

eggs florentine sounds delish!! tossed in a panini press for just under a minute would make it perfect too :)

7/29/2010 2:11 PM

I would be so happy if you came up with a vegan sandwich -- ANY kind of vegan sandwich, lunch or breakfast, I don't care. I would just LOVE to be able to buy a sandwich at Starbucks but it would have to be vegan -- no cheese, no egg no meat. Just lots of yummy vegetables (roasted red peppers sound good right now) and maybe some fresh basil to give it lots of flavor.

(BTW, thank you for the customized Frappuccino option! So happy to be able to drink one now!).

they both sound faboo... and while I'm not vegetarian I'd nab either one... the florentine being first pick!

Eggs Florentine, less basic and more artistic than the former option.

the eggs florentine sounds the best,  but can it be stay as low cal as possible? that garlic spread sounds dangerous!

MDHeatherG
7/29/2010 2:13 PM

Cheese & Veggie Breakfast Sandwich would be perfect start to the day with out any possible offensive foods.  The other sounds tasty but could lead to bad garlic breath or spinach in your teeth.

chamorro2000
7/29/2010 2:13 PM

Yeah, Garlic is not a way to start off the day.

Cheese and veggie please!

Your co-workers can thank me later.

7/29/2010 2:14 PM

Not sure why you couldn't offer both. But for me it would have to be the cheese & veggie sandwich, that sounds absolutely amazing.  You should also consider offering it without the artisan roll for the gluten free folks as well. They have a harder time than us veggies for finding things to eat out when in a hurry.

You mean the Eggs Florentine you had 4 years ago and then wiped off the menu for probably a pretty good and well thought out reason?

Where was I?

Oh right. Cheese and veggie sounds awesome! Thanks!

7/29/2010 2:14 PM

I would prefer the Eggs Florentine version.  On a general note, I would hope that any new sandwich would have healthy ingredients that are not loaded with extra fat and calories. So many breakfast sandwiches are landmines on a healthy diet. For example, it would be great if the ciabatta or another bread type would be whole grain. Egg whites used for the fritatta would be nice too.

Hepburntme
7/29/2010 2:15 PM

the eggs florentine is a good one! if its for breakfast on the run, you may want to find another alternative for the garlic spread

tahoeteafan
7/29/2010 2:15 PM

eggs florentine, but on an english muffin, like the old herbed havarti breakfast sandwich.....florentine benedict could be the name...I miss that breakfast sandwich everytime I see the existing offerings!

***Eggs Florentine Breakfast Sandwich

anything w/ spinach in the morning i say YES to! :)

Everyone needs to up their dark leafy greens anyway, but not many like spinach, so adding cheese & egg is a great way to get people to try the sandwhich.

eggs florentine sounds delish!

JTO6425
7/29/2010 2:20 PM

Well, neither of these is really vegetarian. Cheese is a milk (animal protein) product and eggs are, well, animal protein. What about a tofu-egg Florentine and lose the cheese?

drgardner
7/29/2010 2:21 PM

As much as I love garlic, as others have noted, I'm not sure it's the best choice right before heading into the office.

And while you're at it, how about an option that dumps the cheese? Havarti - and Monterey Jack for that matter - are great, but something lower in fat would be great.

LoriS17
7/29/2010 2:21 PM

Both options sound really good, but I would order the Cheese & Veggie before the Eggs Florentine.  It is simpler, and sounds satisfying.

JuanNeedsJava
7/29/2010 2:21 PM

Eggs Florentine.

However, I agree with someone above that you need to scrap the onions in the spread for those on the way to the office.  That, or include some strong mints on the side.

Mahja
7/29/2010 2:21 PM

Eggs Florentine would be my 1st choice.

cwaturner
7/29/2010 2:21 PM

Both sound great, EXCEPT for the roll. Ciabatta rolls are just a little much. explore other options or stick with the english muffin.

SouthPole
7/29/2010 2:21 PM

Even though the breakfast sandwiches are pre-made, they have always been a favourite of mine in the morning. The spinach one in the past was the best. And now, given the choice, it would be Eggs Florentine for sure!

I love spinach and garlic. I don't care about the office because there isn't enough garlic in the sandwich to make it an issue. You would have to get really intimate in the office before someone would notice from a sandwich.

HinaKhan
7/29/2010 2:21 PM

I'm in for the veggie and cheese sandwich!

badhorse
7/29/2010 2:21 PM

both look wonderful but partial to the eggs florentine sans garlic spread first thing in the am. really would love to see this available as a wrap on 100% whole grain. white bread = bad.

Libbyeab
7/29/2010 2:22 PM

I would definitely prefer the eggs florentine. The nutrients in the spinach would be a plus! Hopefullu you wouldnt overdo the cheese, though. You should maybe think of using a whole grain bread and egg whites and maybe a pesto spread instead of just the garlic spread. As a vegetarian, I'm so glad to see this in the works!

Eggs florentine, BUT I must voice my concern with the garlic spread as well.

jwil1977
7/29/2010 2:32 PM

What kind of veggies?  I can't stand either onions or garlic, so if there's onions in the first one, I have to vote for neither - just a plain scrambled egg and cheese would be nice, though.

Personally I'd love the Florentine if it didn't have the garlic spread.

EGGS FLORENTINE!!!! You guys had this one like 4 years ago or something. I have never forgotten it! SO good!

What about a *vegan* breakfast sandwich? It's about time there is an option for vegans, not to mention people with dairy or egg allergies...

@camspi
7/29/2010 2:38 PM

I think the garlic one sounds good... but it'll make my breath smell in the morning. So number 1!  Veggie and cheese. I'm a vegetarian, too, so thanks for making more options. I love the roasted vegetable sandwich!

I would go with the cheese & veggie. Your spinach/feta wrap is amazing and very similar sounding to the eggs florentine.

While you're at it, please bring back the Chonga bagel!

mosaleah
7/29/2010 3:10 PM

The cheese and veggie sandwich sounds really great. The Florentine sandwich sounds good save two parts: 1) Garlic in the a.m. not so kind to my coworkers and b) spinach will be stuck in my teeth.

Eggs Florentine Breakfast Sandwich - a couple years ago there was an eggs florentine sandwich and it was amazing, i always had to ask for it to be twice toasted though because the cheese/sauce combo was often not melted in the center when just ran through once -----but even with the occasional not-quite-cooked experience it was still my favorite sandwich and i can't wait till there's another option :)

uconnrn
7/29/2010 4:02 PM

I would really enjoy a breakfast that did not include a wheat bread.

Having celiac really limit my breakfast choices at Starbucks.

If I had to choose from the 2 available, I would choose the Florentine.

SpectroMagical

DEFINITELY Eggs Florentine! Not sure about havarti cheese, but if I were making it at home I'd add some provolone... just a thought. =)

7/29/2010 4:09 PM

This IS a tough choice. But while I'm a huge fan of cheese, I have to  agree with "qwerty," the spinach makes it nutritious, and "better" by default.

Eggs Florentine Breakfast Sandwich!!!!!

7/29/2010 5:30 PM

We need something for the Lactose-Intolerant folks out there! Cheese and other dairy products are an issue for a surprising number of folks, and there's a lot of ways (I'm learning, myself) to prepare very tasty foods without having to use cheese! Hummus, nutritional yeast, even vegan cheeses are excellent options (and without meat, are even Vegan-friendly!!).

KarenF
7/29/2010 5:31 PM

Have to admit, I prefer the florentine option over the other. Also, please bring back the RASPBERRY SCONE!! I miss that one in particular!!!

josawa
7/29/2010 5:44 PM

Why can't Starbucks offer both?  As more people opt for lighter and healthier breakfasts, having one choice can become mundane.  I would also like to suggest Starbucks to have a monthly veggie breakfasts to woo those lighteaters.

georgia94
7/29/2010 5:51 PM

I have to say both as well.  Please don't limit your veggies to only one choice!
