“Trenta” Means More Refreshment

As you may have heard, we’ve launched a new, 31 oz cold cup size called “Trenta,” which will be available in all of our U.S. stores by May 3. We’re excited to offer this larger size to our iced coffee and Tazo® shaken iced tea fans out there. (And if you are a fan, don’t worry – unsweetened drinks in this new size will still have about 90 calories, while sweetened versions will have about 230 calories.)

So, why did we launch the Trenta? We listened to you. You told us on My Starbucks Idea and through your purchases that you love refreshing iced coffee and tea beverages but want them in a larger size. Did you know that over 60% of our iced tea customers currently order our largest size, the 24 oz Venti?

Now you iced coffee and tea fans can enjoy more refreshment – a Trenta offers seven more ounces than a Venti at a cost of only 50 cents more at participating stores!

Starting this month, Trenta cups will be available for our friends lucky enough to see the sun more often these days – those of you located in the sun belt. The rest of our stores will receive Trenta cups later on as summer rolls in.

I order the largest iced caramel mach and would like to see it available in the new size as well. I was so excited when I saw this was coming to Texas, went to my starbucks and was so disappointed.

When can we expect the trenta for regular coffee?  I'd certainly go out of my way to find a Starbucks if I knew I was getting more coffee per cup.

I had heard on the news about the bigger cup and went to my local Hickory NC starbucks and was SO disappointed to learn it was only cold cups!! We need a bigger coffee cup so I don't have to make 2 trips anymore..I already get an expensive choice so it will save me money in the long run...thanks :)

Coffee ecosystem. I'm working on a NSTIC app and so I was interested in the Iphone app for Starbucks. I was able to clean up all the SB cards I had on my dresser. +1 I looked at the FB login, and it wanted to transfer all my info to use it with no options. -1 The web account already had a card on it which I transferred my balances to, and then realized it was so old I didn't have the pin -1 The rewards didn't update properly -1 Customer service was able to add rewards points on manually and consolidate cards +1 Time consumed in last 3 days messing with app -1 Time saved in paying with app and cool factor +2 General functionality of Iphone app vs web app +1 net gain since I always have phone.  Finding out other starbucks ecosystem blogs and comments +1 Reducing complexity (time to coffee enjoyment) no net gain. Reducing complexity from having multiple cards from different balances and looking in wallet +3

Love the Trenta size for no-classic green tea!  No calories, antioxitant rich and refreshing. Great for those dog days of summer just around the corner.  Who could ask for more? Thanks Starbucks! :->

Do not let the lame media "starbucks is going insane on size" nonsense slow this stuff down. If folks want bigger sizes let em have it. Iced drinks require a bigger cup and I like the idea. I would examine the venti for hot - maybe that is not big enough. Who knows...worth testing (figure in the free marketing $ of the resulting media storm into your business case!).

Great idea!  How about that size for coffee and hot tea drinks as well?

Today I happily ordered and enjoyed an iced tea in this size.  Interestingly, it has the ‘old’ logo.

I love this new size!  It's great for my iced green tea!!  My friends just die of laughter when they see it though, and when I tell them that it's the size of your stomach!
