New Customizable Cold Cups
Hi My Starbucks Idea members! Liz here from the StarbucksStore.com team. I wanted to let you all know that there’s a new version of your favorite Starbucks tumbler that just came out on StarbucksStore.com . With the new Starbucks Cold Cup, you can twist and remove the outer cup and mark your name and favorite drink on the inside layer (use a dry erase pen), reassemble and enjoy! It’s the perfect customizable gift for a friend. There are two sizes, same as with the original. One is a Grande (16 oz.) and the other is a bit larger than before. The Venti size is now 24 oz . We’ve also got Cold Cup Straws and Dome Lids available. Thanks for sharing the ideas. Enjoy these cool new … more »
Change and the Plush Armchair
Nostalgia is a funny thing. As time goes by, it causes the past to develop a dreamy, soft focus quality that can cause us to forget the pockmarked imperfections of reality. It can also hold us back from embracing change. This has been on my mind lately as I’ve been spending time considering an item that some find intrinsically linked to Starbucks: the plush armchair. The plush armchair was a staple in our stores for the better part of a decade. It was comforting and familiar, even in its imperfection (it wasn't the easiest chair to keep looking sharp). It was beloved: a security blanket you could sit in. But it also represented a time in Starbucks history when furniture was highly standardized … more »
Join us for Coffee in Amsterdam
Hi everyone, I’m Jenna and I work for Starbucks in EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa), with some great news for our customers in the Netherlands! A few days ago we opened the doors of our first fully-owned store in Amsterdam, at 101 Leidsestraat – the heart of the vibrant city center. Nader Fallakha, procurement manager and the very first Starbucks partner in the Netherlands (2002), joined Robin Kinsbergen, store manager to cut the ribbon at our opening ceremony. The store showcases our appreciation of the Netherlands’ rich coffee heritage, and our admiration for the major contribution its residents have played in making coffee one of the world’s most consumed beverages … more »
Celebrating 10 Years of Global Responsibility Reporting
Throughout our history, Starbucks has been actively involved in our local neighborhoods and our coffee-growing communities, and exploring ways to minimize the environmental impact of our stores. Ten years ago, we joined a small but growing number of companies openly assessing their corporate citizenship efforts by publishing our first annual report on these areas. With this simple step, we acknowledged our responsibility to lead by example and put into place measures to ensure transparency and accountability for our progress and performance on community and environmental impacts of our business. Each year since then, the report has taken a look back at what has been accomplished and set ambitious … more »
Celebrate Earth Day, April 22
Hi! I wanted to tell you about an exciting event coming up on Earth Day. On April 22 we’re inviting everyone to bring in a reusable mug or tumbler and get a free brewed coffee or tea . Your choice of brew, hot or iced – it is spring after all! This is happening at participating stores in the United States and Canada. Why are we doing this? We recognize the impact one can make through careful, conscious choices. So we want to encourage and reward those of you who use tumblers or travel mugs in your daily routines. You’re helping to reduce our environmental impact! If you don’t have a tumbler or travel mug, they will be available for 20% off on Earth Day, April 22. Just … more »
Every Mother Counts
August 2009. Vogue magazine had a profile on Christy Turlington Burns. Mother. Director. Activist, and yes, something about being a Supermodel, too. What struck me most in reading this article was her passion for the issue of maternal health and the fact that she was using her name and influence for a greater good. After her own experience of giving birth with complications, she had chosen to bring greater awareness to the issue by directing and co-producing No Woman, No Cry , a documentary about maternal health. It tells the compelling stories of at-risk pregnant women in four parts of the world (Tanzania, Bangladesh, Guatemala and the United States). Moved and inspired by her message and by … more »
