Hi everyone, I’m Jenna and I work for Starbucks in EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa), with some great news for our customers in the Netherlands! A few days ago we opened the doors of our first fully-owned store in Amsterdam, at 101 Leidsestraat – the heart of the vibrant city center.
Nader Fallakha, procurement manager and the very first Starbucks partner in the Netherlands (2002), joined Robin Kinsbergen, store manager to cut the ribbon at our opening ceremony.
The store showcases our appreciation of the Netherlands’ rich coffee heritage, and our admiration for the major contribution its residents have played in making coffee one of the world’s most consumed beverages.
We’ve had a retail presence in the Netherlands since 2007, when our first coffeehouse opened at Schiphol Airport, and since we have expanded to five stores at Schiphol and five more at major railway stations in Amsterdam, Utrecht and Leiden. 101 Leidsestraat marks the first Starbucks outside of these transit hubs, something you have asked us for on MSI.
As well as the EMEA support center, Amsterdam is also home to the Amsterdam Roasting plant; blending, roasting and packaging coffee for countries across Europe, Middle East and Africa. Our partners are so excited to enjoy the Starbucks Experience in their own city; to connect with our customers over a cup of coffee they played a hand in roasting.
Next up we have a larger store on the Beethovenstraat planned for this summer, and you can look for additional high street locations in the future. We look forward to continuing to introduce the highest quality, locally roasted coffee and customer service to our customers in the Netherlands and around the world.
We invite you to join us for a coffee in Amsterdam. Hope to see you there!
Groetjes!
