Starbucks Goes Gaga

Considering that Lady Gaga may be the world’s hottest star right now and an innovative creator unlike anyone we’ve seen, imagine our delight when we learned that she’s also a big Starbucks fan. Well Ms. Gaga, we happen to like you quite a lot, too.

So we’d be hard-pressed to let a cultural moment like this one – the May 23 global release of Lady Gaga’s new album, Born This Way – go by without a little something special.

On Monday there’ll be a Gaga takeover of the Starbucks Digital Network in partnership with Yahoo!, where we’ll be giving away a limited number of downloads for her new song “The Edge of Glory” to the first little monsters to claim them. And if one song isn’t enough to get your paws up, you can listen to the special edition of "Born This Way" all day. We’ll also be streaming an exclusive video of her singing an acapella rendition of “Born This Way.” To get on the Starbucks Digital Network, just get on our free Wi-Fi at participating stores and go to starbucks.yahoo.com.

And for those of you who love a good puzzle, you don’t have to wait for May 23. We’ve just launched a unique digital game called SRCH. Along with the thrill of the hunt, there are some pretty sweet prizes and Lady Gaga has a featured role. The game lasts from May 19 to June 7, and there’s no purchase necessary to play. To get started, scan the code below with a QR code reader. (Need a QR reader? Conveniently, the My Starbucks iPhone app has one embedded in it). Have fun and good luck!

I was very happy to get the free download of the song today.

However, it would have been nice to be able to participate in the digital game/SRCH with a starbucks.com account, or without requiring sign up.  Believe it or not, there are some people out there without a facebook account (who may not want to register), who won't be able to try for the prizes.

I hope the above didn’t come across as ungrateful.  I always appreciate things Starbucks does, and perhaps could’ve phrased the comment for future consideration of similar promotions.

Hi TheKwan - Thanks for the feedback.  I'll share this with the team.

Ok another reason NOT to purchase starbucks.. first no more t discs and now you are backing someone who does nothing about her fans killing innocent animals so they can wear blood to look like her.. More children of the world should look up to the dope user she is... brilliant idea

While I really don't care for Gaga myself, you can't blame a company for doing what it can to win/please customers. Society loves her whether we do or not, so while I agree she is not who I'd want my kids to even know about, that's not Starbucks' fault. Sorry Kellz, but this wasn't the best place to hang that anger. I love good music, and I love good coffee, many times Starbucks gets those just right (just wish there was almond milk so I could keep drinking it now that I know I'm allergic to milk, soy and grains!)

I miss you Starbucks!

wow your marketing team doesn't really care what they promote huh?.... She is a very bad person... not my first or last choice in promoting my business... but then again all Howie baby probably cares about is that the naive high-school kids still come in to buy a latte when the bell rings.... ::gag:: money isn't everything...

Faithful mamma... would you really want your KIDS listening to that crap? and so you know... we are a part of society.... "company for doing what it can to win/please customers" really... yes we can because there are plenty of other options for appealing to customers... Why would they pick someone with such controversial, inappropriate lyrics and views...(not all but most). I'm guessing you don't know much about gaga... read.... and not what's posted on mainstream news... plz...
