Help Us Support Education in Your Community

Recent reports tell us that a quarter of U.S. students do not graduate from high school on time. For young people of color, this number is close to 40 percent.

Sadly, it is not news that fewer and fewer of us in the U.S. successfully graduate. Nor is it news that America’s educational system must better address the 21st century needs of our citizens. It’s a huge task that no single entity can change.

Starbucks is committed to being a catalyst for change by leveraging our stores, our partners and the connection we have with our customers. Through our Youth Action Grants, we’ve supported young people in the U.S. and around the world in taking action to address needs in their local communities. We’ve mobilized thousands of Starbucks partners and customers to make a difference by doing community service to improve their local schools and revitalize local parks.

We partner with local, national and international organizations that are part of and invested in the local communities. With msnbc’s Morning Joe program, Starbucks is helping to spotlight educators and other leaders and the creativity they bring to teaching and developing young people.

Here’s your chance to be more informed and involved.

Participate in NBC’s second annual Education Nation Summit, a week-long opportunity to learn about educational developments and opportunities. Visit Education Nation to learn more.

And beginning October 4, purchase a specially-marked bag of Gold Coast Blend® – Morning Joe Edition that features a $5 donation sticker to DonorsChoose.org. You will be able to direct the $5 to a public school project that inspires you.

Together – and only together – we can help more young people master the foundation of a quality education and have a solid running start for their future.

I don't buy my coffee beans from Starbucks usually, but I want to support this initiative - I will be buying at least one bag of Gold Coast Blend - Morning Joe Edition.  And I will be spreading the word!  Improving the quality of public education in this country is a cause that we should all support.  Way to go, Starbucks!
