Creating and Sustaining Thriving Communities

Supporting thriving communities – inside our stores and in the neighborhoods where we live and work – is at the heart of our mission. And being a good neighbor has never been more important as the global economy continues to weather a painful and challenging period.

Here in the U.S., we are starting to help fuel the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship. Starbucks is teaming up with the Opportunity Finance Network® (OFN) to help create and sustain jobs through a program we are calling Create Jobs for USA, which will provide loans to underserved community businesses. The Create Jobs for USA program will be seeded with a $5 million contribution from the Starbucks Foundation.

On behalf of the Create Jobs for USA fund, Starbucks is introducing the “Indivisible” wristband in our U.S. stores and online starting Nov. 1 for donors who contribute $5 or more to OFN’s Create Jobs for USA fund. One hundred percent of donations go directly to OFN to provide grants to community development financial institutions for underserved community businesses committed to creating and sustaining jobs.

Together, we can create opportunity, inspire confidence and help build our collective economic future. To learn how you can get involved, please join us at createjobsforUSA.org

My only comment is "Are these bracelets made in USA?"

well, at least the bands :) are made in the USA.  I would support this by buyng a lb of GOLD COAST but, since it's decided to become politicized and changed the name to...whatever "Joe".....I've had my last cup.

BAD IDEA!!! Create jobs by supporting the free market system (period!).  Handouts DO NOT WORK.

Vote for conservative, constitutional government administration and get rid of all the expensive "handouts".  Our founding Fathers got it right the first time.  Join the Heritage Foundation and learn about your country http://www.heritage.org/

You can also educate yourself online about our US Constitution at the Heritage Foundation .... its a FREE 6 part online course.

Great corporate initiative, in all meanings of the word. For those of us 'under-employed', willing and able, this is a call to positive action beyond the symbolic wearing of a wrist band. Sign me up!

At School House, we're walking the talk in terms of creating and supporting American jobs. We design fashionable collegiate clothing, and this Spring we moved our manufacturing operations from Sri Lanka back to our home state of North Carolina to support talented apparel workers in our backyard and pay tribute to our state's rich manufacturing heritage. As a small business, we've been unable to qualify for a loan from a single bank in NC despite being a profitable business and adding over 60 new schools to our roster. We'll be applying for a loan through this program to fund our POs - we applaud your efforts and would love to get involved(!) Whether its creating a t-shirt to go with the wristband or anything else, we're a brilliant example of the type of business this program will help! Thanks! www.shopschoolhouse.com

Is there any way for local CDFIs (that are OFN members and that loan to businesses) to team up with their local Starbucks stores in this promotio?. Folks might like to know a little about the orgs actually doing the lending, and we'd love to acquaint them with the good community work we do. We at the New Hampshire Community Loan Fund would love to get involved! www.communityloanfund.org
