Introducing Starbucks® Blonde Roast

Today marks an exciting day as we announce the newest addition to our Starbucks Roast Spectrum—Starbucks® Blonde Roast. This roast builds on our experience – over 40 years – in artisanal roasting and sourcing to bring you a truly lighter-bodied coffee. Starbucks® Blonde Roast joins our current categories, Starbucks® Medium Roast and Starbucks® Dark Roast, giving you a spectrum of options and making it easier for you to find your favorite coffee.

We explored more than 80 recipes before we selected the final coffees for Starbucks® Blonde Roast. The new coffees included in this category are Starbucks Veranda Blend™, Starbucks Willow Blend™, Decaf Starbucks Willow Blend™ and Starbucks VIA® Ready Brew Veranda Blend™.

I am incredibly proud of the diligent work our green coffee team and master roasters have gone through to ensure that Starbucks® Blonde Roast embodies the same quality that our other coffees share. I look forward to hearing your comments and thoughts around these new coffees, which will be available in our retail stores and grocery stores in the U.S. and Canada this January.

Isn't this new "blonde roast" the same as the mild blends?

I think this was kinda my idea....I participated on a webcam with Howard Schulz and asked him why he didnt consider the 50% of customers who thought SBs coffee was too "bitter" or "strong". Honestly, I wanted to help. Im not saying it wasnt a thought of many at SBs. I just know that when I meet people for coffee they often wanted to go elsewhere instead of SBs if they didnt like the SBs taste. And I am the opposite...I cant taste the coffee at some of the other local shops. So now we can go and they can get Blonde.  Thanks for listening SBs. I hope its very successful. I think Howard is really a great guy with a great heart to help mankind. I saw him interviewed recently on CNN where he made the case of the entrerpreneurs creating jobs because our government was side tracked on less important issues and getting "re-elected" than making sure everyone in the USA has food in their cupboards. Go Howard. You are my hero!

I love this blend. Look forward to trying the Willow version. It's terrific all day coffee, especially in the VIA packets. Thank you for doing that!
