Help U.S. Jobs, Get an Indivisible Wristband

“Indivisible” is a word that brings together Starbucks partners, our suppliers and the American people. I’ve had the great pleasure of helping to bring an American-made Indivisible wristband to you as a thank you when you donate to the Create Jobs for USA Fund, operated by Opportunity Finance Network®.

It has been an exciting journey watching the wristband design and materials come together to be manufactured at existing American manufacturing plants, and we’re even gearing up some new plants. One hundred percent of the materials are from right here in the U.S.A. The red, white and blue cord is manufactured in Rhode Island, and the brass crimps come from Florida. The zinc alloy bead is made in a woman-owned manufacturing plant in Los Angeles where the wristband is also being assembled.

Today most high-volume U.S. manufacturing is gone due in part to the cost savings achievable through overseas production. I’ve seen work being put into factories who are hiring individuals in communities specifically in need of jobs. Domestic machinery that hasn’t been used in 15 years is being dusted off to make the wristbands. Our supplier hopes that “projects like the Indivisible wristband are a first step in resurrecting large-scale U.S. manufacturing.”

It has been an inspiring project. We hope that you’ll join in and donate to the Create Jobs for USA fund. By wearing this wristband, you’ll share that as Americans we are indivisible and together we can help create and sustain jobs here in the U.S.A. You can donate online at createjobsforUSA.org or in U.S. company-owned Starbucks stores.

Great Alice, but when those wrist bands run out, think about an I.C.E. Key tag:  90% of people don't have an Emergency Contact Number when they are in an accident etc.  With an I.C.E. KeyTag that Starbucks could provide when folks donate to whatever cause.....everyone would eventually have that very important number on their key tags....cell phones are lost and damaged in car, bus, train accidents, but key chains usually make it through.  Renee'

My daughter and I both bought wristbands -- love 'em!  However, we also noted the ceramic cups "Made in China" for sale at the store.  Please Starbucks, provide us some "Made in the USA" drinkware!  Work with local artists -- they have the best ideas!

Dear Alice,

What a great idea and work you have done!

As America is experiencing the most challenging time in history with increasing job losses and national debts, it is critical that we no longer outsource our manufacturing business to overseas.

My boyfriend and I have an idea that we would like to launch through Starbucks.  We would like to know how your experience was when you have approached your idea.

Our concern is keeping the idea confidential until Starbucks shows interests.

Please kindly respond to this comment or e-mail to me.

I would truly appreciate it.

Thank you.

Just jumping in here to agree with aanniiee - I love collecting seasonal Sbux cups/mugs and would love to see more "Made in the USA" merchandise.

I would love to see this program go to support the long-term unemployed gain employment by donating to local Platform to Employment programs. Currently the unemployed are being by-passed for jobs in favor of those currently employed. This is just wrong!

The Platform to Employment (P2E) is a program that provides 8-week interships to the long-term unemployed --paid by P2E program-- allowing employers a risk-free trial. The internships are supported by contributions.

I would like to facilitate the adoption of a P2E in my community--and encourage others to look into developing them in theirs-- to remedy this bias against hiring the unemployed.

Until we get the unemployed working again our economies and communities will not thrive.

Please check out the P2E program that can be replicated in your community:

This is the ultimate Do Good-Feel Good PR project for Starbucks. Starbucks has the avenue to engage support from customers in getting their communities back to work.
