Mobile Payment for Canadian iPhone Users

I’m thrilled to share exciting news for iPhone users in Canada. We’ve released an update for the Starbucks Canada app which brings Starbucks Card mobile payment to Canada. Mobile payment lets you enjoy your Starbucks favourites on the go – no wallet required.

You’ll be able to pay for your Starbucks purchase and manage your Starbucks Card all through your iPhone or iPod touch at all of our company-operated – and most licensed stores – across Canada and the U.S.  It’s now the largest mobile payment program across North America.

To use mobile payment at participating Starbucks locations, download the free Starbucks Canada app for your iPhone or iPod touch. In addition to the mobile payment feature, the app allows you to manage your Starbucks Card account, including reloading a card balance with any major credit card, checking your My Starbucks Rewards status and your Stars, finding nearby Starbucks stores and exploring coffee, food and drink options. To pay with your phone, select the Card feature to display the barcode for your Starbucks Card on the screen. Then hold it in front of the 2-D scanner on the counter to pay – it’s that easy.

I totally love this!!!  Thanks Starbucks for making me feel like a total rockstar when the other morning my barista proudly held up my iPhone & announced to the lineup behind me: "People, she just paid for her coffee with her iPhone!" lol now it already feels 'normal' to pay with my phone but for a brief, fleeting moment it was epic & beautiful! ;)

It is too bad that a company the size of Starbucks hasn't done it's homework. As with most things Apple It is a big noise. Over 40% of the devices (phones Tablets etc.) world-wide use android leaving 60% to divide between Windows Mobile, Nokia's mobile OS, Blackberry, Web OS, and various other propitary OS's including book readers etc.

So what Starbucks is doing by only bringing out and Apple app is payibng attention to the big noisey bully and ignoring the rest of us.

Thank you for finally making this available in Canada!  I love it!!  So much better than the old "store locator" app we had here in the great white north... There's just one tweak I hope you can add to the App.  I would love to be able to view/review card transactions using my phone.

Who gives a rats $#% about iPhone. Starbucks must have their head in the sand. Android has four times the market share as Apple so why the iPhone fixation??  I personally have a Windows phone 7 device now and find it far superior than ALL of the other platforms.
