Starbucks is Named One of the “World's Most Ethical Companies” in 2012

Hi everyone,

Great news to share! For the sixth year in a row, Starbucks has been named one of the “World's Most Ethical Companies” by the Ethisphere Institute. We’re among 145 companies chosen from more than 5,000 applicants world-wide, and we’re the only winner in the Restaurants and Cafes category.

This recognition is a testament to the great work being done by our partners (employees) around the world who make this company stand out as an industry leader in ethics and corporate citizenship.

The award is highly competitive, and recognizes companies for going the extra mile,  implementing upright business practices and initiatives that are not only instrumental to the company’s success, but benefit the community, and raise the bar for ethical standards within the industry as a whole.

We’re honored to share this recognition with 144 other companies doing good, and after 15 years with Starbucks, I am prouder than ever to be part of a company where doing the right thing is simply how we do business.

Congrats on making the list!  It's nice for Starbucks to be recognized for being responsible and ethical in a business. (And congrats on 15 years Matthew!)

Wow. I'm so impressed by what the SBUX team has done!! keep up the good work. Maybe someday sbux can spread the success to other fields as well??? ....I keep visioning a healthy "fast food" restaurant to add to the Starbucks line-up, governed by the same principles. (Designed to compliment not take away from sbux locations) Do you think this will ever be a possibility?

If only the reality of certain, shall we say "areas" of the company were exposed I doubt an award like this would be bestowed upon Starbucks. But, for all the good ones out there I'm happy for you!

Congrats, Starbucks, for being first-rate and top-notch, just like the coffees you make. Keep up the good work!

CONGRATS! Maybe you guys should now work on companies you hire out for customer relations to be ethical to their employees and customers, deleting emails during peak is for very ethical to customers. Treating employees like trash and having employees hating their work atmosphere is not ethical?! But congrats for the "company" being ethical.

Really need a cover for your drive through ordering bad...the window where you pick up your order is covered, but placing an order in bad weather is not good, you get wet as does the inside of your vehicle. Please consider covering the place where you place your order too.

I'm a loyal Starbucks fan and diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age off 44, as unusual as that sounds, sadly it is becoming more common.  I appreciate that your web-site has more nutritional information including carbohydrate counts for each of the beverages.  It has allowed me to make better choices, rather than having to give up all but drip coffee.  I'm a fan of dry cappucino's, double short soy latte's and Venti black tea lemonaide with only one pump of sweetener. At home, I use unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk because it only has 2 g of carbs per 1 cup - astonishing when you compare with soy or light milk at approx 12 g per 1 cup.  I'd love to talk with you about my ideas on taking a company wide initiative on educating to all (Type 1 and Type 2) diabetics.  Just think how powerful that would be since T2 diabetes has become an epidemic and what that might do for Starbucks reputation?  Now, how about that job in your Benefits department in Seattle? (smile).  In all seriousness, I'd love to be part of the corporate Starbucks team.

@Anne Marie - You can look for job openings here: www.starbucks.com/career-center - Also if you use twitter, you can follow the official jobs profile, "@StarbucksJobs".  Sorry, those links are not clickable.  Move to Seattle (since that is where the headquarters is, if you're not already here), and start networking. The headquarters is called the Starbucks Support Center. Good luck.  (I do not work for Starbucks - Just passing along info.)
