As I first shared on March 29 , we’ve learned that we fell short of your expectations by using natural cochineal extract as a colorant in four food and two beverage offerings in the United States. Our commitment to you, our customers, is to serve the highest quality products available. As our customers you expect and deserve better – and we promise to do better. After a thorough, yet fastidious, evaluation, I am pleased to report that we are reformulating the affected products to assure the highest quality possible. Cherry pie filling wrapped in shortbread crust and laden with sparkling sugar crystals? Yes, I want. But wait! Apple pie made with baked apples and cinnamon in a flakey, buttery shortbread crust? Um, yes please! It’s nearly impossible to choose between our new Starbucks Petites Pies, which is why I’m thrilled that for the next two weeks I don’t have to choose. Starbucks Goes to Disneyland!

It’s taken a few years, but your wishes for Starbucks stores in Disney park locations have been granted. It all starts this summer when Disney will open the first of six new Starbucks stores in Disney Theme Parks– starting with Disney California Adventure in Anaheim, California. It’s no coincidence that the store lies on Buena Vista Street. Buena Vista means “good view,” and the entire thoroughfare is a masterful recreation of a romantic Los Angeles circa 1920s and 30s. Yes! We heard you – My Starbucks Rewards members have told us loud and clear that they want free drink rewards loaded onto their registered Starbucks Cards. In fact, it’s one of our most popular all-time ideas with nearly 70,000 points. I’m thrilled to share that the waiting game is over. Starting this week My Starbucks Rewards begins a pilot of digital rewards in Pittsburgh. Instead of a postcard for earned drinks or birthday beverages, our Pittsburgh-area members will now receive an email to announce that a free drink is loaded onto their Starbucks Card as soon as they earn one. In Honor of Teachers

We have a new Starbucks Card I want to tell you about. Our first ever “Teacher Appreciation” Card was created as a way for students and parents to honor the dedicated teachers in their lives. Its launch coincides with 2012’s National Teacher Appreciation Week starting on May 7, but it’s a gesture of gratitude teachers can carry all year long. The card will be available in our stores mid-April (while supplies last), and online for anyone who wants the convenience of the eGift digital version. Sure beats apples, we think.
