Squeeze Life™ with Evolution Fresh

Email.  Gym.  Work.  Meetings.  Errands.  More meetings.  Dinner. Sleep.

Sound familiar?  That was pretty much my day yesterday.  And looking back I realized that somehow I went the entire day without having a single fruit or vegetable.  Now that’s a rarity, but it happens to the best of us.  It’s not because we don’t love the taste or want the nutrition, but because sometimes life just happens.

That’s why we’re introducing Evolution Fresh™ juice.  No need to run out for more produce in the middle of the week to get the goodness of nature.  We fresh squeeze, cold press and never heat our juices so that you get more fresh-picked flavor, vitamins and nutrition in each sip.

Ready to squeeze a bit more out of life?  You’ll start seeing the new face of Evolution Fresh juices at your local grocery store and Seattle area Starbucks® store – or you can come visit the Evolution Fresh™ store now where our juice partners will mix up a delicious hand-crafted juice beverage or a hearty grain bowl full of the nutritious ingredients you crave.

Thanks Starbucks - I do read that these will be available in Seattle - what about your fans elsewhere?

archena - thanks for your comment!  Everyone in Seattle has really been enjoying the juices,  including me!   We're hard at work every day figuring out when we can roll these out to more stores - and eventually across the US.  More to come in the near future!

A sugar-free drink would be more appreciated.  And yes, fruit has a high level of sugar in it.  It does not matter if it is natural or not, the body cannot tell the difference.  Please don't contribute to Diabetes.

"We fresh squeeze, cold press and never heat our juices so that you get more fresh-picked flavor, vitamins and nutrition in each sip."

Is this true for all Evolution Fresh juices, or just some?

And, if some which ones are which?

"Well, here's a case where what we now have, appears to not exactly coincide with the things that were.

Above Kristin M states, without qualification:

"We fresh squeeze, cold press and never heat our juices so that you get more fresh-picked flavor, vitamins and nutrition in each sip."

Yet, earlier, found on EVOLUTION FRESH's own website, the following was posted:

http://evolutionfresh.com/

"Juices- We are fanatical about quality.  We flash- pasturize many of our juices at lower temperatures and for shorter periods of time, to ensure freshness, flavor and nutrition."

NOTE- Evolution Fresh wrote "MANY", not "MOST", and certainly not "ALL".  And, now we are being told by Kristin M  "We fresh squeeze, cold press and never heat our juices"  If this is now a fact, then I'll accept the Evolution Fresh as a market leader, and a definitive choice.

However, I think a bit more work needs to be done to reconcile the new statement "cold press and never heat" and the "flash- pasturize many of our juices at lower temperatures and for shorter periods of time" made earlier, before coming to any conclusions."

I have forwarded this information regarding Evolution Fresh to news-tips@nytimes.com

For those looking for answers, please tweet this, and forward accordingly.  Somewhere there is an answer to my question.  Why won't Starbucks post it here?

@Kristin M- A simple yes, or no, would have been sufficient.  Deleting comments, and blocking accounts is not an acceptable response.  Therefore, I am left with no choice but to escalate this matter further, in order to find out exactly what the truth is behind the manufacturing process now being used to produce Evolution Fresh Juices.

Starbucks is accountable for statements here made regarding their products.  I believe my question regarding the discrepancies as to be perfectly acceptable, within this forum.  Hopefully others will too.

Starbucks Acquires Evolution Fresh to Establish National Retail and Grocery Health and Wellness Brand

"Using an innovative technology new to juice called High Pressure Pasteurization (HPP), Evolution Fresh is able to deliver one of the only “never heated” juice products for an increasingly larger number of its offerings, ensuring fresh tasting and nutritious juices."

So, according to this recent press release "for an increasingly larger number of its offerings".  Is that number now 100% its offerings.  Yes, or no?

Well, Kristin M, either you have been misinformed, or you are willfully part of maintaining the deceptive practice of providing FALSE information regarding EVOLUTION FRESH JUICES!  Your statement, without qualification still remains: "We fresh squeeze, cold press and never heat our juices so that you get more fresh-picked flavor, vitamins and nutrition in each sip."

We can quibble over whether or not the following products produced by EVOLUTION FRESH: POMEGRANATE LEMONADE, ORGANIC STRAWBERRY LEMONADE, ORGANIC GINGER LIMEADE, ORGANIC GINGER LIMEADE, DEFENSE UP, and PROTEIN POWER., are by your definition "JUICES", or just additional products "containing juice' that are produced by EVOLUTION FRESH, using other processes that involve heating, like FLASH PASTEURIZATION.

www.evolutionfresh.com/.../pomegranate-juice

HOWEVER, with respect to EVOLUTION FRESH POMEGRANATE JUICE [15.2 FL OZ (450mL) bottle], labeled as being "100% POMEGRANATE JUICE", it is also clearly labeled as "FLASH PASTEURIZED".  It's right there on the label, for everyone to see.

So, Kristin M, are not some clarifications needing to be made regarding your statement "We fresh squeeze, cold press and never heat our juices", and apologies due to those whose comments were removed, for no other reason than pointing out the truth?  Why is Starbucks so afraid of simply stating the facts?  While many of EVOLUTION FRESH Juices are produced without heating, one absolutely is (100% POMEGRANATE), and many other EVOLUTION FRESH products are also FLASH PASTEURIZED! (see list above) What's the big deal about STARBUCKS telling the truth?

Hi All, I think the raw vegan juice bars are a great idea and I hear that is what is coming next from Starbuck's! What I read, via Mike Adams at Natural News, is that the juices --some of them--will be raw.  That means implicitly, not pasteurized.

I am not surprised that there is confusion given that it is a very new endeavor, but it is well-worth working out the bugs.

Among long-time juicers, there is excitement about the fresh juice bar chain.  But concern as well, about the quality.  It could be a huge success among juicers--as long as there are at least some choices that are made with organic  produce.  If the juices are all conventional or, especially, GMO, they will not be purchased by most hard-core juicers, who otherwise I think, will make up a good portion of the business the chains draw in. Will Starbuck's please make sure  at least some offerings are made with organic produce?  And clearly advertise them as organic? It will  create more business  for the chain I can assure you.

@Nightchaser: sugar-free drinks contain some nasty ingredients.  Our family is sensitive to sugar as well, so I am sympathetic.  We try to limit our sugar juices and mostly stick to "green juice," which can also be quite delicious and very energizing.  Hopefully Starbuck's will disclose the sugar content of the juices.

All –

Thanks so much to everyone for a great discussion here.  I’m so excited that folks are really doing their research and passionate about their health and wellness.  Let me address a few of the questions.

Sugar:  Yes, fruits do contain natural sugars, so keep this in mind when picking up anything – it should be part of a balanced diet.  If sugar is a concern, I suggest you reach for more of our green vegetable juice just like janzspace mentioned.  Sweet Greens and Lemon has 8g of sugar in 8oz.

Organic:  Unfortunately we are not offering any organic juices in our Starbucks stores at the moment – but we heard your concerns and added some of our organic line in our Evolution Fresh store in Bellevue.  Organic is definitely on our minds.

Pasteurization:  Although some of the juices Evolution Fresh sells in the grocery isle are flash pasteurized, all of juices at Starbucks are cold pressed and never heated.  It’s going to take some time for us to make it 100% everywhere, but we’re working on it!

I hope these answers help clarify any of your questions.  We will continue to learn and adjust as we work through this new endeavor.  Thanks for all of your posts!

Kristin
