I have a burning question - is this series going to replace the current global collector icon series?

coffeegarden13

The YAH mugs are colorful, but I will not purchase any of them.  I like collecting the US Global Icon series.  I am missing 17 in the US series.

The YAH mugs are juvenile, and Starbucks produced them to compete with the ugly mugs from Dunkin donuts....

Please answer the question about the Icon series..are they all being discontinued?

Local barista said the Icon mugs cannot be ordered anymore and that remaining inventory is all that is left.  This was in the Boston area.

I got the Chicago "You Are Here" one when I one day realized:  I have a lot of other places, (not same series), city mugs but not even the simple one from the city where I was born and grew up.  So, I did get this one for Chicago.  The Chicago colors could be better, but , no one asked me.  I still like it and it I will always keep it.  (think they did a better job on the Chicago 'card')

Awesome! Please add Charleston SC

Clemson SC and Greenville SC

Thanks!

I hope you keep them the same size they have been .

I know this is a corporate website and it has the right to delete any comments made by customers, but deleting my previous comment about this series was heavy-handed, in my opinion.

These mugs are a totally fun and different style. Was there a specific design inspiration?

They remind me of the Mary Blair design of It's A Small World in the Disney parks.

Just picked up two of the You Are Here mugs at the Pike Place Market (first Starbucks)  Will be a great gift for people who like Starbucks and a bit of history as well.

I have not seen these yet but I hope they have stats on the city printed on the mug like in the past.

I almost doubt that ConnieS had this in mind when suggesting more coloful city mugs... In fact, I would also love to have more of the city mugs in yellow, green and other bright colors instead of having too many in blue or even brown. However, you could have just changed the colors for the existing style of the 2008 Global Icon Series to some brigther base colors. I am crazy about the 2008 series - the mugs really have character and style and my plan was to collect so much more of them - it was so much fun to hunt for them during vacation and was like bringing a trophy home each time! But if the You Are Here Collection will actually replace the '08 Global Icon Series I am sure that my hunting has come to an end. The new style is just no style anymore - the mugs look completely ridiculous and rather give the impression that a child's drawing got printed on them. In my opinion, Starbucks was always outstanding compared to other merchants offering city mugs, but with the new series it looks like you are trying to beat them in producing cheesy looking mugs that nobody would like to have sitting on a cupboard.

PLEASE do not discontinue the '08 Global Icon Series! At least run them additionally for a while to see which one sells better and I am sure you will reconsider the new look.

I hope these do not replace the icon series. too many people are already committed to that collection and it would upset us to lose that series. Ive already been to stores that have both options on shelves because they still have stock of the icon series, and I can say that they look great next to each other. Instead of pushing collectors away, they should invite customers to collect both. Do not discontinue the icons line for something so far from it.

Collecting takes time... Sometimes a lifetime! But when items are around for only a few years, it makes it impossible to do.  I am very disappointed and will not start a different mug collection from Starbucks.  The old mugs should remain active!

I love love love the Global Icon series mugs.  Please do not discontinue.  I have so many now I have to recount just bought a beautiful display cabinet for them.  These mugs are distinct and sophisticated.  The new YAH series are cute and whimisical but do not compare to the Global Icon series.  Keep making them.  I just got three mus from Thailand and Germany.....need my friends, colleagues and family to travel more to get the complete list.

Hi. I am from the UK. I just started my Icon Series collection last year and I am deeply saddened to know that the series has ended. I feel that the fact that the mugs were sold at many countries outside the US, like the UK and Asian countries, really contributed to the huge success of the series. On a related note, are you planning to expand the ‘You Are Here’ series of mugs to outside America countries? I will gladly jump on the new bandwagon.

Is this going to replace the current 2008 Global Icon Series?? I just started my Icon Series, and LOVE them. But now when I go to the stores, all I see is YAH mugs. They are nice for some people, or new collectors, but not if I already had 50 of the "2008 Global Icon Series". The size don't match!!! To me, YAH look like mugs for kids. Please do not discontinue 2008 Global Icon Series, have them both in store!!!  Let the customers pick which one they'd like to buy!!

1. Is this replacing the '08 series?

2. will you include more major cities and states with this new collection? for example, the '08 series did not have anything for South Carolina, or Kansas or Virginia. This is disappointing.

I'm an avid collector with 28 city mugs from the '08 series.

Is there any way to purchase mugs from locations other than your own metro area? I live in Dallas-FW, but would really like to be able to purchase other locations. I've never found them on the Starbucks site.

Thanks for any help!

I just received a You Are Here California mug and LOVE it! I never saw the 2008 series but now that I've seen pictures of them I have to say I like the YAH series much more. I just wish they were available to purchase somewhere other than Ebay for those of us who aren't able to travel much. I guess I'll need to start nagging my traveling friends!

Annoyed.  That is how I felt in San Diego upon seeing the new "You Are Here" mug sitting on the shelf at Starbucks, in the rightful place of the mug from the global icon series.  Market this new series if you must, but please do not discontinue the other series.

4/25/2013 4:49 PM

These mugs are horribly tacky and look like they were made for kids.  I could care less if they are sold alongside the icon edition city mugs, but if they are replacing the Icon series city mugs, you'll be losing many long time collectors including me.  That would be the last time I set foot inside starbucks.

Noooooo!!!!! Please bring back the ICON mugs!!! I am a newer collector, I started in 2010 when I went on a European Road Trip and decided the best souvenir for me would be the mugs! As someone who doesn't drink coffee, shocker I know, I was seeking out Starbucks for the sole reason of buying mugs...but I wont be anymore! I am very sad and disappointed with the new YAH mugs, they are smaller, more expensive, and kid looking. I liked the uniformity of the old style with the the few color variations! And the bigger size is my favorite as well as my families favorite! Please listen to the comments here and know that for every one comment there are more people out there that agree but aren't ones to sign in and comment! Please bring them back or at least make them available to purchase alongside the new designs...

I created an account just so I could leave a comment. I, like MANY others am also an avid collector of the ICON mugs. I, like MANY others will also not buy the new YAH mugs. I think that Starbucks will be making a very big mistake by discontinuing the ICON mugs and will lose a great deal of sales because of this. Why not do both? Give Starbucks customers an option. I'm sure there are people that like the new ones, but there are many out there that only like the old ones. Please, keep the ICON and sell both.

I'm a collector of the Global Series, and I hope that they will still be kept in circulation alongside the "You Are Here" series. The new ones, as others have stated, resemble the unattractive Dunkin Donuts products and are nowhere near as stately as the Global Series mugs. Not a good call, Starbucks.

4/29/2013 9:16 PM

I was just looking at the mugs to see what is available, in my location, for a friend who collects them and I see that you don't have a "Massachusetts" but you do have two city mugs for what is essentially the same city: "Boston" and "Cambridge". I also see there is no Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island or Connecticut mugs. I mean....really? I had a glimmer of hope when I saw "Portland" but I am pretty sure you mean Portland, Oregon, don't you? Because nobody thinks of Portland, Maine, even though it's a much better city.

I am very disappointed in you, Starbucks.

Don't get I'd of the Icon series! I am an avid collector and they are very popular!!!! Will you be making an Icon Kansas City Mug? I was told that the store at Country Club Plaza on Nichols street is still waiting and was told it wold be available by spring. If that is the last mug available so be it, but really hope you do not get rid of these! The you are here series are more like traditional tacky mugs IMO, so please consider your customers ideas, after all, we are the ones who purchase :)

What a sad decision by Starbucks.

I think these mugs are a clear step backwards from  past series. The design is not distinct and masculine enough to make its way into our office where it has become a sport since the early 2000s to bring in new mugs from business travels and share them with the colleagues.

Soon enough, I will have to spend my money at ebay getting old mugs instead of getting them at the Starbucks store.

By the way, why are people posting questions here do they really think somebody from Starbucks is going to answer them?

I have been collecting Starbucks mugs for 20 years. I travel constantly - but I don't drink coffee. I am a tea drinker.

I started buying these mugs because I needed one in different cities I was working in, one that could be reheated in a microwave, and that was cute and hip.  Ta-da Starbucks mugs.  I now have them from around the world.

My biggest complaint is that the original mugs were much larger.  That is why I was attracted to them in the first place.

What are the sizes for these new mugs?

Are you ever going to come back with teh 22 oz mugs?

I agree with others about the disappointment expressed over the previous mug collection being discontinued. I do hope that's not the case. I have been collecting the mugs for a few years now and enjoy finding them and receiving them from family and friends who know how much I love them. I'm also not an avid coffee or tea drinker, but these mugs have become my go to souvenir. While I don't care for the new mugs and likely wont collect them, I hope Starbucks will listen to its dedicated customers and still offer the Icon mugs, so people have an option.

NO on more "colorful" city mugs! What happened to the ones we were collecting@? Elegant style. These new more "colorful" mugs are sort of tasteless....not to offend. Starbucks has always had a certain design level and it has usually been quite nice and tasteful.

These "new" mugs look like the cheap roadside stop mugs you can pick up anywhwere...need I really say more??? Go back to something more inline with Starbucks quality...PLEASE.

I'm not sure what everyone is freaking out about with the YAH collection. It is awesome and way more creative then the last. Maybe if you're 60+ and still watching the Dick Van Dyke show would you think these are ugly or to use another users ridiculous statement "cheap roadside stop mugs."

And did people think that the same collection would be produced forever...? Get over it and enjoy the new stuff that is coming out.

Good job on the new mugs, it's a great improvement!

I like the new mugs. I was so excited to see them in the store.

I understand people's concern that have collections. However, I've been collecting the city mugs since before the icon collection, so I have three different varieties of these mugs. I'll be happy to add the YAH mugs to my collection.

I share the same opinion as others, I went to Washington D.C. not too long ago and can't find the City Icon Series, I heard it will be available until July from Baristas in Boston, NY and Philly, but it seems like it's not the case. Despite some people like the new "YAH!" mugs, these mugs just don't impress me as it doesn't have the "Map" and "Passport" feel like the older mugs. I could have as easily made each of em' myself in ceramics because of the awfully simple graphics.

I know you may think it would let everyone start a new collection but these mugs are barely usable daily. The color even if it is on a Large Cup like the old City Icon Series mugs won't let me spend a buck on it. For now I'll just buy the Architect series until you revive the City Icon Series which I only have 4 mugs but was going to collect a shelfful. I am disappointed...

So disappointed!!!!!!!

I have been collecting the Icon city mugs for a while and I still get excited every time I find a new one, until my last trip when I saw the new YAH mug. I wanted to cry when the guy working there said these were the new models and would most likely be replacing the Icon mugs!

Please tell me this isn't true!!!! I still have many more to collect I did force myself to buy the atlanta YAH model, but once I got home and compared it to my collection I did regret it. I agree with everybody else! the new ones look childish, cheap and have no place near my icon collection. I hope Starbucks keeps the tradition and doesn't discontinue the icon series. and I will not be buying any more of the YAH models!

Oh and I'm no where near 60 years old...

Like many others have said here, I am so disappointed that the icons series doesn't seem to be available any more.  I travel a lot for my work and collecting these mugs is my hobby; they are all over my house and I'm sad not to be able to finish my collection without paying huge prices on eBay.

I don't have anything against the YAH series; I just don't agree with previous series being discontinued in its favour.  Why not sell them alongside each other?  I'm considering boycotting Starbucks because of this, seriously... :(

Compare to 08' city mug series, YAH are really ugly for me. Most of them are similar and just like for kids! I went to some new cities recently, and always ran many starbucks to find original city mug. Collection becomes a nightmare rather than interneting hobby. Very disappointed!!!!!!!

Why fix something that is not broken? How could it be good for business? The Icon series is superior to the new YAH series in many ways. Please at least make the Icon-series available online. I was a loyal Starbucks customer wherever I travelled, not so much anymore.

I love these new mugs with the whimsical designs and colors. I don't mind the Icon series but personally prefer to collect YAH. In fact, I have collected both. To be fair, I think that Starbucks should maintain both series or phase the Global with an established date since many folks have invested time and money. But to each their own so there's no need to be so hateful about a new series. Things do come and go and these are just mugs.

Please, please do not discontinue the ICON series. I have been collecting for several years. Why would you do this? If they are discontinued I will discontinue my patronage of Starbucks. Why would you not just add the other mugs as an option? Can someone from Starbucks please answer all the concerns posted here?

6/8/2013 9:21 PM

Starbucks, please hear the loyal collectors of the ICON mugs! We know you do hear and listen to our ideas -- please hear us on this one. There are tens of thousands of collectors, probably MUCH more, around the world. Just check out sites like FredOrange.com and the myriad Facebook groups dedicated solely to these beautiful mugs. There is also a petition on Change.org dedicated to showing you just how dedicated we are to this series. These mugs are elegant and beautiful -- a collection I'm proud to display in my home, next to my fine wine bottles and art!

Please, keep them as an option. My idea: re-launch the ICON series on July 4th with a USA ICON mug! And make sure plenty are in stock, they'll go like hotcakes! Thank you Starbucks!

Ugly. Childish. Cartoonish. Tacky. Never on MY Shelf.

I love your Icon mugs, we have been collecting for a few years now and have just moved on to Global Icons. We only collect mugs from places we travel to, so it may take awhile to complete our collection, but we were looking forward to to the Starbucks Adventures along our travels. Honestly it's the only reason we stop at Starbucks. We of course end up grabbing a cup of tea or hot chocolate, but we just drove across 4 countries this weekend in Europe grabbing up mugs, a trip designed around Starbucks locations might I ad! Please continue the Icon mugs. You will in time discover these new mugs were a horrible mistake and you don't want to lose your loyal customers & fans in the process. At the very least give us another year or two then gradually phase out the icon mugs.

6/16/2013 7:28 PM

I noticed that the Global Icon mugs are disappearing from store shelves are well and being replaced by the YAH mugs.  I would echo most of the comments above that the mugs look like cheap tourist kitsch you can buy in any souvenir shopor something intended for a kid versus the more elegant global icon series.  Also, I'm up to around 60 of the Global Icon mugs from at least 6 countries but there are only so many cities you can visit in a year.  This really feels like a betrayal from Starbucks if they are going to encourage collecting and than yank the rug out before they give a reasonable amount of time to amass even the US collection.  Very disappointing if they don't keep the Icon series available.

6/17/2013 5:54 AM

I agree with most everyone. I have been collection the global icon mugs from all over and it is disappointing to have the mugs change so drastically. I do like the new mugs, but I would like to continue my current set.  I started to notice about a year ago that there were cities running out of mugs and told they could not reorder. Now I'm finding out that with the new set, there are cities that did not make the cut!  Is Starbucks ever going to provide a listing of current cities for the new series. Maybe you could set up a page for us collectors of all the mug series that you have done and we can then start marking off ones that we have.  This is a great business opportunity for Starbucks with those of us who collect the mugs. Make it a social community where we can share and have list that can be printed. Just an idea......

PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD MUGS!  I have been collecting the city mugs for the past 3 years now and was devastated when I went to Toronto this past weekend only to find a hideous new city mug series.  If you want to design a new mug, fine, but please please please do not do so at the expense of the existing ones!  My favorite souvenir at any new city is my Starbucks city mug....finding out that they are no longer available is horribly disappointing.

I’ve been collecting the 2008 Global Icon Series mugs for almost 5 years now and I’m not even near to collect them all. I have now 75 and I was on the roll when I found out that you are replacing them with a new series. Very disappointed. I even got 4 other friends to start collecting them. Between the 5 of us we have around 150 mugs. We should be buying many more. I hope you reconsider and continue the 2008 Series. As one of the previous comments said, sometimes takes a life time to collect something and 5 years is just not enough. A friend of mine got me a Toronto new YAH mug by mistake. I do not like it. Got rid of it right away.

The Starbucks shop online states that the Icon series is being retired so the YAH mugs will be the only choice (until they retire them too I suppose). I'm very disappointed since I just started collecting them on a recent trip to China, no idea why I came so late to the party.

It is true that SBUX decided to eliminate the City Mug and it's a sad note that it's been replaced with a toy like product. Although the new mug is "local" it is of little of little value, design and class. When you have a good thig going why change it? I was in a store and a customer bought ten city mugs and wiped out the store. I asked him why he he stated he could sell them for "big bucks" on the net. I just don't get it. Bring back the City and Global Mugs PLEASE.

Get over it people. The new ones are way better looking. The old ones were so boring I was never even tempted to buy one. Now when I travel I love to see what the mugs will look like and have already collected four. From a design standpoint there is no comparison. The YAH mugs are way more creative and bold. Team YAH all the way.

For the record, I am 23, not 60+, as a user above would suggest after I comment on these. These new mugs are horrible. The Icon mugs needed more colors, yes. You would think that would be a simple fix, but apparently not for Starbucks. I honestly can't wrap my head around the fact that a company this big would approve of such a ridiculous idea. And that's exactly what these new mugs are: ridiculous. They're cartoonish and childlike. Last time I checked, children aren't part of Starbucks core demographic. I'm all about fun looking mugs, but these are just too much of a circus. I don't find these creative, at all. Half of them look like cheap mugs you'd find in a tourist shop and the other half really don't capture the city they're supposed to be representing. I go on a lot of trips and really liked being able to count on the Icon mugs as a go-to gift to bring back to family and friends. These new mugs, honestly, I wouldn't even insult my family and friends with them. Oh and for the people saying that the Icon mugs were ugly, look up the Taipei mug, then talk to me. Because that is one of the prettiest mugs I've owned, and the scenes on it always bring me back there. After all, that's what souvenir mugs should do, right? Not make a mockery cartoon of the place.

I thought I'd jump in and just add my vote: I LOVE these new mugs, the design is simple, modern and colorful. It takes the typical cheesy souvenir mugs you find everywhere, with elements that represent the city/state, and paints them in a terrific, colorful and minimalist way. Some people might not like it, but you can't please everybody. I've collected SB mugs worldwide for over 7 years, and I love my old mugs but I was extremely excited for the new collection. If you're a serious collector and you hate the new ones, be happy that your collection will be more valuable now. I was just in Chicago and while I was buying the new one, someone came in asking for the old one, so there you go, you now have a collector's item, stop hating.

News flash: I've spoken to 15 different baristas and they don't even like the YAH mugs.  Sooner or later they're going to be called the COLD mugs (COLlecting Dust).  Please bring back the Icon mugs! But to be fair to the YAH crowd, put the old mugs next to the YAH mugs and let the people decide.  Then in Q4 see how many are left in your IMS (inventory management system).  The ones that sell the most stays for sale.

I am MAJORLY disappointed in Starbucks for discontinuing the Icon Mugs.  I am a local gal and love Starbucks, but I feel that this move may have been to make more money and make people start their collections over, which is incredibly annoying.  My husband and I have collected around 20 from the series and WILL NOT be collecting the new YAH mugs not only because they are unattractive, but because I feel this was a "big business" move.  So many people love the Icon Mugs, collect them and like to display them.  Recently we picked up ours in New Zealand, Australia, Vietnam, Thailand and Singapore.  We found out about the collection change when we made it back to the USA and are both extremely diappointed that we wasted our time and money.  Why must their be a change?  Why couldn't you have kept both?

Please, please do not discontinue the global icon mugs, everything just loves to collect them. Please do not become the second Tupperware-type company, who replaces series just when you are about to collect or complete. I am visiting the States this year for holidays and hoped to collect more of the global icon mugs, only to shockingly see they are replaced by these colorfull, less interesting and non-appealing mugs.

Please listen to your fans, those who make Starbucks to what it is today - a huge international brand!

Thank you!

I agree with 98% of the previous posts...PLEASE do not end the Global Icon Series.  I am not even close to done with my collection and I am NOT a fan of the YAH collection. They are, as so many have said, akin to a child's drawing.  If it isn't my child, I do not want the drawing.  The mugs from the Icon series were a great conversation starter with my clients.

YAH, yah, yah...is not my "cup of tea" at all; and during my travels this summer I have not witnessed even one person purchasing a YAH mug.  To me, they all look the same, and lack the individuality that each of the Global Collector Series mugs has. While waiting in line at airport Starbucks I have heard others ask about the "old mugs" and wondering what happened to them.  I know Starbucks probably doesn't want  what people are drinking out of becoming more important than what is in the mug, but to me, both matter. I wish Starbucks would recognize that those of us who are devotees of the GCS mugs have a connection with them, and reconsider and bring them back.

Confession:  I have over 60 of them, (they are the answer to the ubiquitous airport any city t-shirt souvenir), and I am making coasters out of photos that were taken while visiting each locale.  I lack the imagination to see what I could possibly do with a YAH mug, except drink out of it.  It does not inspire me.

I was very disappointed when my Dad told me earlier today that the reason why he sent me the 'YAH' Boston and Cambridge mugs instead of the City Mugs that I have been collecting on my world travels since 2007 is that the City Mugs are being discontinued.

I do not find the YAH Collection mugs appealing in any way.  The City Mugs and Architecture series are much better - they always attract comment when people see me drinking from them!  The YAH Collection is bland and anonymous.  The City Mugs were _the_ reason why I became a Starbucks customer and seek out the shop locations wherever I am in the world.  I believe that you will lose a lot of custom with people who want an eye-catching memento of their world travels.

Please do not end the City Mugs and Architecture series mugs!

Kind Regards,

Stephen

I have to say I'm highly disappointed by the change to the YAH collection. My fiancé and I started collecting the Global icon series a few years back and would seek out a Starbucks in every location we traveled to together. I am all for understanding change, but when I look up at this thread and notice over 75 comments so far from people with a similar reaction to myself, that sends a message of poor customer satisfaction (and I might add that this is 75 people who were willing to go on a site to find this thread, sign up AND comment. Imagine how many people feel the same but didn't want to go through the hassle.). It's impossible to collect all the mugs or create something iconic in 5 years but clearly these mugs have kept people coming back to buy starbucks in an increasingly crowded industry. Please consider listening to your customers and reissue the icon series, or if you'd like to satisfy someone's MBO for the year, place them side by side in stores and see which one wins out in a real life marketplace. Just seems like a quick decision to me and would be interested to see true consumer feedback before this decision was made. Thanks for letting me vent, but I wouldn't do it if I wasn't a huge fan of your brand and work on the icon series, just don't want to switch up mid way through a long term collection.

Thanks

Tom

SERIOUS MISTAKE.  DON'T DISCONTINUE THE GLOBAL ICON SERIES MUGS.  LOT OF VERY DISGRUNTLED AND MAD COLLECTORS SWEARING OFF YOUR COFFEE.

DON'T THINK YOU EVEN THOUGHT THIS THROUGH!!

All the people who are complaining that Starbucks discontinued the Global Icon Series (yes, it is confirmed for those of you who asked), get over it. It's called a Series for a reason. They don't last forever. That's what makes them special. Be grateful for what you have now, and if you want more, contact other people. For now, however, enjoy the You Are Here SERIES because eventually, that one will be discontinued and replaced by another just like this one.

I agree with previous comment that" the new style is no style" . the new collection and the globule collection don't have to be mutually exclusive. Why can't you just let them coexist and leave us more choices. Seriously I am not going to collect the new mugs, not collectable.  I hate childish colorful mugs.

Too bad, the new cup just discouraged me from collecting it. I was so disappointed and don't know what to do with my previous collection. Not a smart idea at all. I am not as proud of my collection of city cup now.

I'm very upset over the change of mugs. I have been collecting all over the world for years now and still have more to go! I will not be starting a new collection with the new mugs. And now I feel my current collection is incomplete which really bums me out:(

Does anyone even read these responses? I collected the "old" mugs, and would have gladly switched to collecting something new if they weren't so UGLY! They look like something my 5 year old niece would drink out of. It seems that everyone I talk to in Starbucks (customers and baristas) all say the same thing.

Ugh!!!! Let it go!  They aren't coming back, move on.  Do you all throw a fit when you favorite TV series is canceled? Well good for you, loyalties important.  You spent your hard earned money for mugs you like, so be thankful for what you have.  Just like the others said, this series too, will see its sunset.  Display the mugs you have with pride because guess what, now they really are a collector's item.  Next!

Monster fan of these mugs!!  The design and artwork are fun, colorful, slightly contemporary and overall just perfect.  I just hope Starbucks doesn't stop making them anytime soon, I enjoy buying and collecting.  I only buy if I take a trip there, and they remind me of all my fun travels.  PLEASE KEEP THESE MUGS GOING, and please add more cities and/or special places.  You're on to something great with these!

Just Google image searched the global icon series a number of posts seem to be referring to.  I can see why folks would get upset based on the effort they put into collecting.  I'm personally not crazy about the design of the artwork on those mugs, but I totally understand why collectors would be so attached to them.  I would be too, because I'm getting pretty attached to the "YOU ARE HERE" collection.  Surely with the fame these mugs are attracting, Starbucks could special order them from each store.  For example, if you were in London, you could only special order that global icon mug from a Starbucks in London, for example.  That would be my suggestion to preserve the almost sacred nature of the collection.

I have collected the Architecture Series Mug and the 2008 series City Mugs but I doubt I will collect the new series as it just lacks something.....  To be politically incorrect "just to girly".....

I created an account just to beg Starbucks to bring back the Icon series.  I have way too many US and Foreign cities and countries in my collection and I want them to all have a uniform appearance.  I buy one every time I go somewhere new as long as one exists.

Starbucks, Please bring them back!!

Really sad that the City mugs are being discontinued. I don't think I will be getting any of the new YAH mugs. I feel a bit swindled because so much time and effort (and fun) has been put into collecting the City mugs, and now they are no more. I am not going down that road again. I will just enjoy what I have got I think.

I'm going to chime in and say I've stopped collecting them after these new ones came out.  I wonder if the corporate marketing gurus noticed it or they are in denial.

Dear Starbucks, many people around the world collects and still are collecting the global city mugs. The YAH series looks really really bad. Please listen to your customers and bring back the city mug. It is really simple,  you should sell what people wants to buy.

I don't like these new mugs and I WILL NOT BUY THEM.  They are UGLY.  The global city mugs were beautiful, popular, comfortable to hold and held a lot of coffee.  The new YAH mugs are juvenile, uncomfortable to hold, and wimpy in their capacity.  BRING BACK THE GLOBAL CITY MUGS.  I am so disappointed to see YAH mugs in every Starbucks that I frequently walk right out the door without buying any coffee when I'm traveling.

My wife and I have been collecting the Global Icon series from all over for years and it has always been an easy souvenir gift for our friends and family to get us. Just realized in both San Antonio and Los Angeles only these new tacky and less sophisticated design available. Jumped online now to find out the series is no longer available. Very disappointing to hear and we will no longer be buying. Please bring back Global Icon!

I just bought my first YAH mug in Vegas and I love it!  It's vibrant and colorful, just like the city.  I like the global ones as well, and will miss them.  That said, I'm excited to have a new design to collect.
