I’m a fan of savory foods, especially in the afternoon. I’ve always felt that Starbucks could offer a treat for people like me – and many of you seem to agree, based on this idea, this idea and this idea.
So we've launched two Bavarian-style pretzels: Asiago & Cheddar and Stoneground Dijon. Now you have two great savory options!
As we developed these recipes, we focused on delivering a traditional, deep golden-brown, Bavarian-style pretzel – one that’s slightly crunchy on the outside but soft in the middle. I think you’ll be pleased to see that this is not your typical ballpark pretzel.
Since many of you have to eat on the go, we’ve made these pretzels easy to eat. We layered the cheese or mustard right into the dough. No dipping sauce is needed!
I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy the pretzels many times over the last few weeks, and I can’t decide which flavor is my favorite. The pretzels are served warm, so the melted cheeses inside the Asiago & Cheddar are pretty irresistible. But I also love the mustard seeds in the Stoneground Dijon. And did I mention that we added just a touch of honey to that one to really bring out the mustard flavor? So good!
