Back in 2011, we discontinued some of our favorite coffees to make way for Starbucks® Blonde Roast on the grocery shelves. It was hard deciding which great blends to let go. And we know you’ve missed them just as much as we have. That’s why we’re thrilled to be bringing back for a limited time in grocery three of our favorite coffees: Organic Serena Blend™, Africa Kitamu, and Costa Rica Tarrazú.
Organic Serena Blend™ is certified organic in the US. It’s a medium roast and medium body coffee created with a blend of Latin American and East African beans. The regional flavors complement each other elegantly—the crisp acidity and citrus flavors characteristic of Latin America balancing out floral notes from Africa. Organic Serena Blend™ pairs perfectly with tart fruits and nuts, and I love it alongside my morning Cranberry + Almond KIND bar.
Although the name “Kitamu” is Swahili for “delicious beyond description,” I’ll do my best to describe for you the Africa Kitamu tasting experience. The essence of currants, citrus, and raisins shine through in this vibrant cup, which also boasts unmistakable floral notes from East Africa. With medium-level roast, acidity, and body, Africa Kitamu is an exotic yet well-balanced blend.
And finally, Costa Rica Tarrazú comes to us from Coope Tarrazú, a coffee cooperative in San Marcos de Tarrazú, Costa Rica. The co-op was established to give its member farmers growing control and enable them to focus on their well-being and regional economic development. You can’t go wrong pairing Costa Rica Tarrazú with most fruits, including citrus, strawberry, peach, and pineapple.
Look for Organic Serena Blend™ and Africa Kitamu in the coffee aisle this September at participating Safeway, Vons, Dominick’s, Tom Thumb, Randalls and Carrs locations.
You’ll be able to find Organic Serena Blend™ and Costa Rica Tarrazú in all Target stores in October.
These coffees are back only for a short time though, so don’t miss them! And let us know if there are any other favorites you’re clamoring to see again.
