Race you to the App Store! We’re thrilled to announce support for Passbook in Canada and the UK with our most recent Starbucks app update.

If you’re a My Starbucks Rewards™ member, you’re probably already familiar with mobile payment, tracking your My Starbucks Rewards™ account and the additional features our app provides. Now, as you’ve been asking, you can now use our app to add your Starbucks Card to Passbook.

If you’re looking to get connected, Passbook is preinstalled within Apple's iOS 6 operating system. Make sure you have our most recent Starbucks app update (v2.5), then simply open your Starbucks app on your iOS 6-enabled device and tap “Add Card to Passbook,” found within the "Manage" menu on the main screen of the “Cards” tab.

Starbucks for Android™ Now in Canada and the United Kingdom

Hey Android users! We've expanded our Android™ mobile platform to Canada and the United Kingdom! Now you can use your phone to pay, track your Stars and reload your Starbucks Card. You can even check your balance, manage your My Starbucks Rewards account and find a location.

We’ve also integrated mobile payment with PayPal for reloading your Starbucks Card. And, if you have multiple cards, the balance transfer option simplifies consolidating them.

More K-Cup® Pack Options Now Available at Your Local Starbucks Store

It’s only been a few weeks since Starbucks® K-Cup® packs were introduced to our U.S. stores, but I’m back to tell you that we already have more options available in Starbucks® Blonde, Medium and Dark Roast coffees. In addition to our starting lineup of Pike Place® Roast and Sumatra, you can now find Veranda Blend™ and, my personal favorite, Caffè Verona® in our convenient 12-count packs.

And if you loveTazo® tea, check out two new Tazo® K-Cup® pack options – Awake™ and Zen™ – at select stores. Canadian stores now have K-Cup® packs too. Stop in to pick up a pack, and then tell us which one is your favorite and why.

The Power of an Hour

Each of us knows how to make the best of an hour, particularly when every minute counts. An hour might be all it takes to get the laundry done, to squeeze in a workout, to cram for a test or a presentation or to generally lead us closer to achieving our own personal goals.

But that brief unit of time can also make a world of difference in the life of another person or in the health of a community. For Starbucks second annual Global Month of Service, we challenge you to harness the power of the hour to help your community thrive.

We’re allotted 24 of them every day. To make a difference, it can take as little as an hour. Read on for five ways volunteers will be supporting their communities this month in just an hour.

1. On April 25 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, ten volunteers are gathering at Crossroads Mall for an hour to assemble care packages to send to our troops overseas.

2. On March 31 in Olympia, Washington, a group of 300 REI-hosted volunteers will spend an hour picking up litter and fixing up trails at Priest Point Park.

3. In Chagrin Falls, Ohio on April 19, volunteers will spend an hour collecting food for the Chagrin Falls Park Community Center that will be distributed to families in need in Geauga County.

4. On April 19 in Nanaimo, British Columbia, 120 volunteers will work with the Downtown Nanaimo Business Improvement Association for one hour to clean up downtown Nanaimo.

5. Starting at 6pm on April 28 in Yuma, Arizona, volunteers will each walk for an hour for a 24 hour-long relay to raise money for cancer research.

Be prepared – if you haven’t volunteered before, your first hour might inspire you to see the impact that a few additional hours can make. Visit the Starbucks Community Service website to find volunteer opportunities in your area. To date, we’ve collectively donated more than 100,000 hours to communities around the world. With your help, it won’t be long before we reach our goal of contributing one million hours per year by 2015. Now that’s time well-spent.

Pick of the Week’s New Perk in Canada

Attention all Canadian MSIers! Vicki here, your moderator in Canada with some fun news! Starting today (February 21) you’ll notice something new about our Pick of the Week cards: they’re not just music. We’re expanding our free music download cards to include apps and more from iTunes.

The first new pick is the SCRABBLE app from Electronic Arts. Challenge the computer or square off with friends, and play up to 50 games at once. The following week, download the photo app Snapseed, developed by Nik Software. It’s an awesome app that makes any photograph extraordinary and you’ll want to use it every day. Use Snapseed to enhance, transform and share your photographic masterpieces with ease.

So, whether it’s a great new song or a fun new app, check back each week to take advantage of the latest Pick of the Week!

Mobile Payment for Canadian iPhone Users

I’m thrilled to share exciting news for iPhone users in Canada. We’ve released an update for the Starbucks Canada app which brings Starbucks Card mobile payment to Canada. Mobile payment lets you enjoy your Starbucks favourites on the go – no wallet required.

You’ll be able to pay for your Starbucks purchase and manage your Starbucks Card all through your iPhone or iPod touch at all of our company-operated – and most licensed stores – across Canada and the U.S. It’s now the largest mobile payment program across North America.

To use mobile payment at participating Starbucks locations, download the free Starbucks Canada app for your iPhone or iPod touch. In addition to the mobile payment feature, the app allows you to manage your Starbucks Card account, including reloading a card balance with any major credit card, checking your My Starbucks Rewards status and your Stars, finding nearby Starbucks stores and exploring coffee, food and drink options. To pay with your phone, select the Card feature to display the barcode for your Starbucks Card on the screen. Then hold it in front of the 2-D scanner on the counter to pay – it’s that easy.

My Starbucks Rewards™ is coming to Canada

We’re thrilled to share great news. The My Starbucks Rewards™ program is coming to Canada! Starting October 4, with My Starbucks Rewards™, you earn a star every time you pay with your registered card. There’s no membership fee to join and the more you use your card, the more Stars you collect and the more you’re rewarded.

If you registered your Starbucks Card before October 4, you’ll automatically be enrolled as a Green Level member which means you get to keep enjoying the benefits from Starbucks Card Rewards you’ve grown to love – free select syrups and milk options, free same visit refills and free tall drinks with your whole bean purchases.

Register any Starbucks Card after October 4 and you’ll be enrolled at the Welcome Level and you will receive a postcard to exchange at a participating store for a free drink for your birthday.

When you collect 30 Stars in a year you’ll be reward and recognized for your visits by becoming a Gold Card member. This means you’ll get a free drink with every 15 stars, plus special offers, coupons and your very own personalized Gold Card.
