Whether it’s through Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and even Instagram, people are connecting through their networks and learning about opportunities at their dream companies.

To help make it easier for you to find your own dream job at Starbucks, we’ve teamed up with BranchOut to create an application on our Facebook pages.

BranchOut is the largest professional networking service on Facebook, with over 500 million professional profiles through 30 million active users.

The 32+ million people who “like” Starbucks on Facebook will now have visibility to Starbucks as an employer in a new way. Within this application, you’ll be able to network with your Facebook friends who work at Starbucks and learn about opportunities to be a partner through video and an up-to-date feed of U.S. and Canada jobs available.

To learn more about opportunities at Starbucks, visit our BranchOut page on Facebook. Or connect with us on Twitter and Instagram @starbucksjobs.

Happy job hunting!

But then I began wondering what exactly that might sound like.

The direction given was to begin with three different playlists: Americana, country music and ”uplifting songs about America.” Which sounded like a fun endeavor (“That Rosanne Cash song might fit perfectly next to Joan Baez!”), until I began the digging and compiling and quickly found that I had lost my way (“Wait. Where should Mississippi John Hurt go again?”).

I had a form of writer’s block (“producer’s earwax?”) that left me unable to work on it for several weeks. And then one morning, while beginning to puzzle and sift through the various playlists again, I decided to streamline it. To cull songs from each into one cohesive mix that wasn’t specifically grouped by genre, but was simply a good listen.

What evolved out of that process was a thematic narrative that moved between songs of tender hardship like Fred Neil’s “Little Bit of Rain” to songs of gradual uplift like Otis Redding’s version of “A Change Is Gonna Come.”

Obviously, I wanted the overarching message to fit with the Create Jobs for USA initiative, but I also wanted the playlist to say: “Hey, we know times are difficult for a lot of folks right now, but just hold on a little longer, because it’s going to get better. And meanwhile, here are a few songs to ease your troubles, to reflect upon, to provide a little light at the end of the tunnel.”

From Hawaiian ukulele master Jake Shimabukuro’s unique take on “The Star Spangled Banner” to Sharon Jones’ funky take on “This Land Is Your Land” and on to Daniel Lanois and Emmylou Harris stirring cover of “Shenandoah,” it’s a mix that showcases some beloved standards in a unique new way.

The finished compliation is in our coffeehouses now. Starbucks will donate $2 to Opportunity Finance Network® for the Create Jobs for USA Fund with every purchase of this CD.

We hope you enjoy it.

Well, just in time for our nation’s birthday, I’m excited to announce the launch of our new Indivisible collection, an assortment of new products all made in the U.S., and all supporting the Opportunity Finance Network for the Create Jobs for USA Fund.

My favorite item is the Indivisible Blend™ coffee. Blended, roasted and packaged in the U.S., Indivisible Blend™ is a Starbucks® Blonde Roast coffee made from washed Ethiopia and Kenya beans. Purchase it by the pound or through July 8 Brewed Indivisible Blend™ will be a featured coffee. Starbucks will donate $5 to the Create Jobs for USA Fund for every pound of Indivisible Blend™ coffee sold, and $.05 for every cup of Indivisible brewed coffee purchased in our stores – and that will add up fast!

There’s also a mug made in East Liverpool, Ohio by artisans at the American Mug & Stein factory ($2 donation); a reusable tumbler comprised of 35 percent recycled material and made in Chicago ($2 donation); and an inspiring book to add to your summer reading list: We Can All Do Better by Bill Bradley ($5 donation by Perseus Books).

100 percent of donations to the Fund are distributed to Commuity Development Financial Institutions across the country so that they can make loans to community businesses in underserved neighborhoods.

I’m also thrilled to share that Citi Community Development and the Citi Foundation are making a $1 million contribution to the Create Jobs for USA Fund, bringing the amount of money raised to $11.5 million and has helped create and retain an estimated 3,800 jobs across the U.S. They’re also inviting their customers to get involved by redeeming Citi “Thank You®” points to make donations to the initiative. If you have a Citi Thank You Rewards eligible credit card or bank account you can donate your points beginning June 15 and help community businesses across America. More information is available at createjobsforUSA.citi.com.

So, celebrate this Fourth of July with a small treat for yourself, and show your support for the U.S.!

Made Greener Tumblers are double-walled to help keep hot beverages hot and cold drinks cold. They fit into a standard car cup holder and come with spill-resistant flip-top lids.

We’re proud to feature our new Siren logo on these tumblers, and proud to offer you a reusable tumbler that you can feel good about.
