There are lots of ways to prepare Starbucks VIA® Iced Caramel Coffee. You can shake it up in your water bottle for a quick coffee on the go. You can mix it with ice cold milk for a creamy latte-like refreshing beverage. Or you can try it the way I make it: mix a packet with 16 oz cold water, pour over ice and add a splash of half-and-half. The dairy really brings out the creamy caramel taste and turns an afternoon coffee into a delicious treat.

It seems that a lot of you on My Starbucks Idea really like strawberries. We’ve seen ideas for Strawberry Lemonade, Strawberry Frappuccino® blended beverages and Strawberry Green Tea.

Well, we think you berry believers will like this: Strawberry Lemonade Starbucks VIA Refreshers™ instant beverages. Sweet strawberry and tart lemonade with notes of lavender and a boost of natural energy from green coffee extract.

Gervaro: “the flavours were not as intense as I would have thought they should be for this type of drink. If I was drinking it in the summer, I may feel differently. I do like the amount of sugar and caffeine in the drink, which I feel is about right for a refresher.”

This is the time of year for reflection and celebrating the highlights of 2012. We love hearing what ideas matter most to you. Thank you for sharing with us this year. Looking back at your response to the Ideas in Action blog posts, here were the most popular highlights based on post views.

With your support we raised over $15 million for the Create Jobs for USA fund, creating or sustaining 5,000 jobs across nearly all 50 states.

#3 Cochineal Extract
You asked us to remove the cochineal extract as the red dye used in some of our food and drink products. Thanks to your feedback we have since replaced this ingredient with lycopene.

The Newest Starbucks VIA® Ready Brew

I have the fun job of developing new Starbucks VIA® Ready Brew creations. This means I get to spend most of my day sipping all kinds of delicious drinks. Dream job, right? I think so!

This year we created Starbucks VIA® Peppermint Mocha. The biggest challenge was getting the balance of coffee, cocoa, and peppermint just right. To do this, we used our high quality instant and microground coffee, cocoa powder and the perfect peppermint flavor.

In fact, we probably sipped our way through 25 or more natural mint flavors until we finally landed on that sweet, crisp, candy cane taste that makes everyone think back to the holidays as a kid.

For me, this beverage takes me to winter visits at my grandmother’s house, where there was a skating pond right across the street. After a few hours of ice skating, we’d rush inside the kitchen to find steaming mugs of hot cocoa. Last Saturday, I made a cup, put on some holiday tunes and decorated my mantle with evergreen, pinecones and ornaments. The creamy, sweet taste and cool peppermint finish definitely gets you in the mood to deck the halls!

Enjoy Two New Starbucks VIA® Ready Brew Sampler Packs this Fall

This time of year is all about choice – choosing new boots for the fall (lace up or zip?), choosing classes (art history or cultural studies?), and of course politics will be presenting all citizens of the U.S. with a very important choice on November 6. But if you need a break from all that decision making, Starbucks has just come out with an answer to one of the top MSI requests for VIA: sampler packs. No decisions needed.

This fall, we’re offering two different sampler packs. The first provides one cup each of our three different coffee roasts: Starbucks® Blonde Roast, Medium Roast and Dark Roast.

Each of these coffees is delicious in a different way. Our Starbucks® Blonde Roast Veranda Blend™ is a light, lively cup for a casual morning. Medium Roast Colombia is nutty and crisp, perfect for a fall afternoon. And Dark Roast Italian Roast is rich and roasty, just right for telephone chats with friends far away. Add milk and sugar to create your perfect cup of coffee.

The second sampler provides a selection of our Flavored Coffees: Mocha, Vanilla and Caramel. Each packet contains a blend of coffee, natural flavors and a touch of cane sugar. You can prepare these with hot water – or try using hot milk for a café-style beverage wherever you are. My favorite is Mocha, but with the sampler pack you can try them all!

Bringing Starbucks Refreshers to the Nation
