The Starbucks Digital Network is honored to announce a new content partnership with the influential social action network TakePart. TakePart’s Take Action: 30 Ways for 30 Days monthly action calendar is now a regular feature on our "My Neighborhood" channel. Each week we are highlighting a simple daily action from the calendar that we can all take to inspire change, such as wishing a stranger “Happy Holidays,” or donating a tweet to a good cause. 30 Ways for 30 Days is a great spur for positive social change. We’re excited to take part, and hope that you are too.

Starbucks Goes Gaga

Considering that Lady Gaga may be the world’s hottest star right now and an innovative creator unlike anyone we’ve seen, imagine our delight when we learned that she’s also a big Starbucks fan. Well Ms. Gaga, we happen to like you quite a lot, too.

So we’d be hard-pressed to let a cultural moment like this one – the May 23 global release of Lady Gaga’s new album, Born This Way – go by without a little something special.

On Monday there’ll be a Gaga takeover of the Starbucks Digital Network in partnership with Yahoo!, where we’ll be giving away a limited number of downloads for her new song “The Edge of Glory” to the first little monsters to claim them. And if one song isn’t enough to get your paws up, you can listen to the special edition of "Born This Way" all day. We’ll also be streaming an exclusive video of her singing an acapella rendition of “Born This Way.” To get on the Starbucks Digital Network, just get on our free Wi-Fi at participating stores and go to starbucks.yahoo.com.

And for those of you who love a good puzzle, you don’t have to wait for May 23. We’ve just launched a unique digital game called SRCH. Along with the thrill of the hunt, there are some pretty sweet prizes and Lady Gaga has a featured role. The game lasts from May 19 to June 7, and there’s no purchase necessary to play. The Starbucks Digital Network in Stores Now

The Starbucks Digital Network, in partnership with Yahoo! is now in stores. As announced on June 14 the Starbucks Digital Network is a complement to our free Wi-Fi service. The network offers a selection of premium news, entertainment and local online content – all for free! Visit a participating U.S. Starbucks store with your Wi-Fi enabled laptop, tablet or smartphone, connect and you’ll automatically be directed to the Starbucks Digital Network. You'll be able to access the online subscriber version of WSJ.com, get free iTunes downloads, enjoy sneak peeks from unreleased books and find out what’s going on in your neighborhood.

We’re coming out of the gate strong with two songs and a video from Fistful of Mercy, an exclusive clip from the new movie Waiting for “Superman” and a first look at bestselling author Anita Shreve’s new novel, Rescue, that doesn’t hit shelves until November 30.

There are endless opportunities here and we have great additions planned – so keep coming back. It’s time to grab your Wi-Fi enabled device and head to your participating neighborhood Starbucks to check out the new Starbucks Digital Network, in partnership in Yahoo!

Pick of the Week Now Available on the Free Wi-Fi Landing Page in Starbucks

Some of my very first memories involve music. I remember learning the words to “Octopus’ Garden” in my first grade music class, and I remember the scratchy sounds of Billy Joel’s “Uptown Girl” as played on my parents’ record player in our den. I can remember hearing REO Speedwagon on the radio as I played under the kitchen table while my mom cooked dinner, and my dad bursting into our bedrooms on our birthdays, belting out the Beatles’ birthday song.

My love of music has stuck with me throughout my life. When I came to work at Starbucks a few months ago, I was so excited to get to work with Pick of the Week, the Starbucks program that lets customers download a free hand-selected song on iTunes. Even before I came to Starbucks, I looked forward to walking into my favorite Starbucks location (Northgate, hollaaa!) and picking up the newest Pick of the Week card. I love the discovery aspect of new music and Pick of the Week does an amazing job of introducing me to music I’ve never heard before. Now that I’ve seen the whole Pick of the Week process, I have even more respect for the masterminds behind the project and the artists who participate.

That’s part of the reason I’m so proud to announce that Pick of the Week is available for digital download in Starbucks stores. From any participating U.S. store location, users can now download the current Pick of the Week from the free wi-fi page in Starbucks. We’re proud to launch this digital version with this week's Pick featuring Eddie Vedder’s newest single, “Better Days” from the Eat, Pray, Love soundtrack.

Pick of the Week cards are still available in participating U.S. and Canada stores, but now there is an additional way to download your free music from Starbucks. So continue discovering new music and redeem your Pick of the Week in stores today.

Free, One-click Wi-Fi is Here!

Today we launched our new Wi-Fi offering in all of our U.S. and Canada company owned stores. Wi-Fi is now completely free for everyone! On top of Wi-Fi now being free, we have also simplified the login process. That means no cards, no passwords, & no time restrictions. Simply come into your favorite Starbucks, open up a browser or mobile device, agree to terms and conditions and click connect. It’s that easy!

Free Wi-F is just another way we can enhance the in store experience for our customers!

Today we are happy to announce that on July 1, 2010 there will be a better Wi-Fi offering at all U.S. company owned stores. That’s right, free Wi-Fi with just one click. No Starbucks Card required. No username or password required. No time restrictions.

We recognized your desire AND passion for a simplified Wi-Fi experience and want to thank you for your patience. Free Wi-Fi is just another way of providing you with a great customer experience to go with your favorite drink. On July 1 go into your local store, open your browser or mobile device and click to connect – it’s that easy!

Also announced today, to launch later this Fall, is a new digital content offering called the Starbucks Digital Network. Customers will have access to an array of premium and exclusive content - available only when connected to Wi-Fi at Starbucks.
