My Starbucks Idea celebrates its one year anniversary today. You have shared over 70,000 ideas. In the first year 94 ideas have been put into action and 25 of those have launched including – Instant Coffee, Venti Travel Cup, and Bring Back Tea Lattes. Your ideas have inspired us to think of relevant and creative ways to enhance our Rewards programs - including free Wi-Fi and a birthday beverage.

Since we launched 12 months ago the site has added some new features like the ability to vote down an idea and consolidate repeat ideas - ideas that you submitted early on.

Currently there are 56 ideas under review and 10 are coming soon. Look for launch announcements later this spring. Some exciting things are on the way in the Starbucks Card, Food, and Other Experience Ideas categories.

MSI is about a community collaborating and telling us which ideas are important to you. Thanks for keeping the community vibrant and ideas brewing. Keep the ideas coming. What idea should we launch next? Tell us. It could happen.

Starbucks Music for the Holidays Now Streaming

Some of you have told us that you would be interested in a Starbucks application available for the iPhone. We just launched a music application, called Music for the Holidays. Search for Starbucks in iTunes, and you should see the icon in the applications section. This application streams Starbucks music - some tracks are exclusive and only available through this application or our past CDs! Also, if connected to Wi-Fi you have the ability to purchase the track by selecting the ‘Buy’ button.

Now Playing - three of our popular holiday compilation albums are available for your listening pleasure. Download this free application today at the iTunes store and enjoy songs from our 2008 Winter Wonderland, 2007 Stockings by the Fire and 2006 Santa Baby compilations. You’ll hear songs like “Sleigh Ride”, by Ella Fitzgerald, “Caroling, Caroling” by Nat King Cole, “Winter Wonderland” by Diana Krall, and lots more.

AT&T Wi-Fi now available in all U.S. Markets

AT&T Wi-Fi has officially made it to all Starbucks markets in the U.S.! This should simplify getting online in our company-owned stores, a key ask by this community. There are now three complimentary ways to get Wi-Fi* at Starbucks:

Active Starbucks Card carrying customers. Visit www.starbucks.com/wifi to set up your free AT&T Wi-Fi account.
Existing AT&T high speed internet customers
iPhone, iTouch and Blackberry Bold customers

Getting connected is easy. Bring your WiFi-enabled device to your local Starbucks, grab your favorite coffee and log in. We pride ourselves in offering a strong and secure connection at all of our AT&T Wi-Fi Hot Spot locations. If you have questions about AT&T Wi-Fi look for the brochure in store.

Thank you for your patience as we’ve worked through this transition. We will continue to evaluate the plan with our eye towards other steps we can take to make access simpler.

Free Wi-Fi for Apple iPhone users at Starbucks

FREE AT&T Wi-Fi access is now available for Apple iPhone users at Starbucks equipped with a hotspot. Users can relax and access music, email and web browsing services with their favorite coffee in hand from the comfort of their nearest location. Find an AT&T Wi-Fi location near you.

This is how iPhone customers get started with Wi-Fi:

• Activate Wi-Fi from the settings icon on your iPhone
• Select "attwifi" from the list of available networks
• Enter your 10-digit mobile number and check the box to agree to the Acceptable Use Policy. Tap 'continue'
• You will receive a text message from AT&T with a secure link to the AT&T Wi-Fi hotspot. You will not be charged for the text message.
• The SMS link will be valid for 24 hours at the location it was requested. Another request must be submitted when using another hotspot location.
• Open the text message and tap on the link for 24-hour access to the AT&T Wi-Fi hotspot

Hi all, it’s Kevin again. At the end of March, I made a post here informing you of the upcoming Wi-Fi changes at Starbucks. Well, now I am back to let you know that they are here! Anyone who has a registered Starbucks Card that has been used within 30 days to make a purchase or had funds loaded on it can sign up now.

Join Starbucks Card Rewards at www.starbucks.com/cardrewards and sign up for Wi-Fi.

Complimentary Wi-Fi is one session of up to two hours every day. For access, you must use your registered Starbucks Card to load money or make a purchase within the past 30 days; open a free account with AT&T; and agree to receive limited AT&T marketing.

Wi-Fi changes-coming your way

This is Kevin Shawver and I work on the Wi-Fi program at Starbucks. First of all, I am excited to see all the energy around free Wi-Fi—we know it is important to our customers. I was secretly hoping that free Wi-Fi would be #1 amongst the popular ideas, but I’ll take #2.

Back in February we announced that we're switching to AT&T as our Wi-Fi provider in our U.S. company-operated stores. As Brad Stevens mentioned in his post on March 24, we're thrilled to be rolling out two hours of complimentary Wi-Fi service for customers who have a registered Starbucks Card. It'll be simple to sign up. All you have to do is:

Register a Starbucks Card
Sign up for an AT&T Wi-Fi account (and limited ATT marketing)
Come to Starbucks and login

To keep your newly created Wi-Fi account “active” you'll need to make a purchase with your registered Starbucks Card or add additional funds to it within the prior 30 days of logging on. We feel that the complimentary two hours is a meaningful amount of time and a fantastic way to reward Starbucks Card holders.

We have customers with a variety of needs—some want to come in and read, some want to chat with a friend and others want to use Wi-Fi. Starbucks means different things to different people and the two-hour limit helps balance the many needs of our customers so that everyone can enjoy spending time at Starbucks. This service will be available to all customers nationwide later this spring.
